    Essential Oil Safety

Lindy, as you are more experience with Essential oil, how about starting a informative thread of the % of each EO to be used? I do understand that you emphasize on not more than 3% of EO in soap. I believe that some single EO can go to 3% direct in soap (like lavendar) but some need to be...

    100% Olive Castile

I do not use a stick blender. So definitely going to be more time consuming.. as for temperature, I soap @ the lye being 45degree Celsius and and the oil @ 50degree Celsius.

    100% Olive Castile

I do not know how much lye do you mean, but usually when I do soaping, my lye:water ratio is 1:2.6... If i use 100gm of NaOH, I will use 260gm of water to dissolve. It took me around 1-2 hour to get to a light trace. 100% olive oil usually will not get into a super trace stage as Olive is a soft...

    Greek Yogurt soap

I add mine at trace. I use about 5% of yogurt to weight of oil which is not really a lot. So I do not discount my water for this. My skin do not really like too much of yogurt so I won't exceed the 5%.

Rebatching my lye heavy milk castile soapbar

I am not really an expert in rebatching. Have tried it on various occassions but for all soaps, I just add in my puree/liquid and leave it in my container and doubleboil till the soap melted. Now I am having an issue with using excess lye in my soap (I saw the wrong measurement). The lye i use...

    Wheat Germ Oil

I use about 5% of wheatgerm oil in my soap. Reason being that I read around (but I do not remember where) that although wheatgerm has a short shelf life, but it actually prolong the expiry of CP soaps. I will try to find the information and put here.

Never soap when you are feeling absent minded

Just upset that I wasted 46gm of lye today. I was excited in doing my milk soap n I miss my lye measurement. Now I have a lye heavy batch of soap. Although for testing, I only use 175gm of oil. BUT, I am feeling heartache for my lye as it is hard to get lye here. :-(

    Dried flowers for scent

you will get a darker color to your soap only. the scent won't survive. in addition, you have to be really careful when using concentrated tea to dissolve the lye, it may lead to incomplete dissolving of lye. its better to strain your lye if you want to use concentrated tea. if its just...

    Dried flowers for scent

you can sprinkle the flowers on the top as deco.. at the same time, the smell will not be affected by the saponification process.. but do take note there is a possibility that the smell will go away with time even before the soap is cured..

Fresh additives soap - need help

Hi Volya, I am suggesting rebatching because it retained the natural smell. So you need not really use FO for the strawberry scent. the nice natural smell is not lasting in the CP soap. As for the puree, I do not think you need that much of water. 2:1 will be okay. Just that for rebatching...
