Anyone Have Experience with Muddy Soap Company?

I only use the Tobacco Vanille from Muddy, and I can tell you it’s a dead ringer for the cologne. As in, my husband owns the cologne, and I have soaped with it many many times, and it is an exact dupe. I will tell you that it speeds trace and will rice a little, so you need to soap Cold, and...

Challenge attempt left me with a few q's

I’m one that uses powdered sugar in all my soap. It doesn’t speed trace, and it does give lovely bubbles I feel. I would agree that heat had the most to play in this one, as while I am someone who will do a OPW with a thicker trace then others, it would be nearly impossible to sling pudding.

Quick question, well and septic tank

I live in South Florida, and we have a well and septic. This house was a foreclosure when we bought it, so I had the septic system evaluated and checked before we purchased. It was healthy, so I didn’t have to do much with it asides keep it healthy. I get it pumped once a year, and use enzymes...

    Tussah Silk

I use silk in all my soaps, but can tell you the humidity plays a huge factor. I don’t much ever get to leave doors open, as South Florida, but I’m betting that’s your culprit.

Superfat Suggestions for Aleppo type recipe

We have 11 acres in Loxahatchee, which is adjacent to Wellington, but lacks its taxes. I love that area you are in, my best friend lived in that area until she abandoned me for Seattle. 😭 Also, now that I’m home, I checked my notes, it was actually a 7% super fat, and a 45% water...

Superfat Suggestions for Aleppo type recipe

Hi other Florida soap maker! I’m in the Wellington/Palm Beach area, so I know the joy of our humidity. 😭 I’m at work, so I would have to check once I’m home, but I want to say my superfat was in the 5% range. Kept low on purpose as I wanted to get that out of the mold and onto racks so I could...

Superfat Suggestions for Aleppo type recipe

Also, I should note, due to the expense of the LBO, I did a 40/60, not a 50/50. That may have also increased the fluidity.

Superfat Suggestions for Aleppo type recipe

I’ve made this a few times, and yes, it can be soap on a stick. Oddly, this was the soap that taught me a Higher water content would speed trace, so I do a lower one with my Aleppo bars. I don’t know if I’m allowed to link to videos, but I’ve one on my YouTube where I did a OPW with 4...

Looking For A Really Great Sweet Orange FO

Satsuma from NS is such a great FO! I’m glad it’s holding well for you. I blend it with a dash of orange peel from BB to give it a little depth too if you wanted to try that. Just make sure you check your usage rates.

    Colorants, molds and succulents

These are lovely! She should love and appreciate them. Natural colorants can be a bear at times, but these all turned out so elegant. I’ve been on a bit of a piping kick lately, and finally got succulents in hand after trying and failing quite a bit. The cake people make it look so easy!

    What Causes Slow Trace?

I find that lard absolutely slows a recipe down. It changes a great deal of how the soap behaves to me, all for the better. I find that using lard at a higher amount will also give me more working time despite the high amounts of other faster tracing ingredients I use (such as Shea and Cocoa...

SMF May 2021 Challenge - One Pot Wonder

I’ve done quite a few of these with embeds, and it is possible to do it without totally disrupting, but it does change the flow some. I love this technique, I’m excited to see everyone’s goes at it.

    WSP Acquires Rustic & Elements

Since they have now also bought MYOB, those shipping times have plummeted as well. Which is extra annoying as they were one of my very favorites.
