Review of the Hercules Soap Cutting Station from Custom Craft Tools

Thanks, @AliOop! Used my Hercules for the first time today and discovered I can STILL make an uneven cut. I’m talented that way.

    Felt Soaps

You can keep the felt to use as a washcloth, or cut it open and put another bar of soap inside, or compost it!

Review of the Hercules Soap Cutting Station from Custom Craft Tools

Wheee!! My husband gave me a Hercules for Christmas! I’m very excited about getting to use it, and retiring hubby’s mitre box and a kitchen knife, which doesn’t always give me even cuts. But - I must be in need of more help than other Hercules users - I NEED INSTRUCTIONS! Or at least a few...

I will NOT buy any new fragrance oils!

We Canadians use both! It’s really odd. we moved to metric about 50 years ago I think - but we STILL weigh our bodies in pounds and ounces although we weigh food at the grocery store in kilos and grams (grocery stores often show both metric and imperial). Distances? Kilometres. Unless it’s a...

I will NOT buy any new fragrance oils!

OH MAN, I hear ya. I just received my SECOND large order of EOs (with a few FOs thrown in) within a month! Because I pay a lot for shipping, I figure I may as well add in a few more items, and then the order explodes. BUT the most annoying thing is that on BOTH orders I forgot to include the...

    SMF November 2022 - Trees

Thank you for maki g me smile with your soap- and ESPECIALLY for making g me feel that I’m not alone in having challenges with that reverse feather swirl! I’m on vacay and had no time for a second try. My first (which I entered just for the heck of it) made me laugh as well

    Newbie from Nova Scotia

Welcome! I have found NewDirections in Ontario to be a good source for most oils. Shipping is costly- I’m in Alberta and I cringe at the shipping charges. Maybe you will find something better in the Maritmes. Costco is the best I’ve found for coconut and olive oils.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Weeeelll - it’s been a while since I sat down with Laura to read her books but I remember reading about Pa shooting a bear! And there were descriptions of dispatching the pig and using every little bit. I’m sure they rendered the fat - and made soap 😁😁

What soapy thing have you done today?

I am chanelling my inner “little house on the prairie” vibe today (with a nod to all my soapy American friends - happy Thanksgiving wishes from 🇨🇦!). My husband is a hunter and this year, as I have started to make soap, he has brought me goose fat and deer fat from his hunts! We have rendered a...

November 2022 Challenge Entry Thread - Trees

Here is my “windswept tree” soap. I shamelessly copied (read: TRIED to copy!) Holly’s feather swirl tree landscape with a reverse (bottom to top) hanger swirl. Only had time for one attempt and had some successes, some fails. My background colour faded way out in me so the snowflakes are barely...

    Favorite and/or least favorite words

“moist” - ew!! Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, unfortunately used the word “moistly” at the outset of the pandemic when speaking about the benefits of masking up. The whole country talked about that for days, and turned it into a meme. “[A mask] protects others more than it protects...
