    Lotion bar issue

Interesting, I use golden jojoba in my lip butter and its perfectly liquidy goldenness even heated to 140°. @AliOop https://www.bulkapothecary.com/golden-jojoba-oil/

My stuff arrived, my stuff arrived!

When you slice the bar of soap, more than likely it will be stuck to the cutter... instead of pulling the bar of soap off the cutter, twist it until it comes free. If you pull it you can get little picked marks on soft soap, twisting is much neater. ;)

Thank you for this! I've been curious about this store but don't have any near by to visit. And love your avatar! NSH? Saddlebred? Morgan?

How To Compensate for Dried Orange Peels Affecting Lye?

@PaintyLiz Wow! Thank you so much for such a thoroughly detailed response! I really appreciate it and am so excited to try this! I have dried orange peel that I use for cooking, I'll be excited to give it a go, thank you!

How To Compensate for Dried Orange Peels Affecting Lye?

I'm totally fascinated by this, @PaintyLiz would you mind sharing some details please? I'd like to give this a go! Your orange peels, you peeled yourself, let dry, and then ground in a food chopper or coffee grinder? How much did you add? I assume you like it for cleaning dishes, does it make...

Opinions on Gift Basket creation for Christmas sales?

I'm in the middle. I like it when a fragrance is the same across all products OR when two fragrances work together as a bouquet that complements each other. Since you have a lot of the peppermint as well as the cashmere, but little of the others, I would create two gift baskets, one that is...

Had something weird happen with my wax melts, take a look?

Ewww.... we have snow in the forecast for next week... yay us! Candles are flying off the shelves already

    Cure time

So, I'll be a voice of dissent and say it really boils down to your soap recipe, the conditions in which it is kept a whole loaf, and the duration of time its expected to be used. I make a very high coconut oil and shea butter soap. Mine is firm enough to cut after 8 hours, but soft enough to...

    Hurricane Milton

We do, they've wisely packed and evacuated. This is so terrifying for so many and my heart and prayers go out to all.

    Reusing soap equipment

I typically make multiple small batches in one evening. Washing and drying each tool, mixing container, etc., between batches would triple my time investment, so instead, I very carefully wipe down everything with paper towels until I can no longer see any remnants or streaks. Then, I start a...

    Black colorants

I used to have terrible bleeding / dark grey lather when I used AC, but since using black oxide the issue has been minimized. Gorgeous soap!!!

    Why Wax

I wasted so much material and so much time when I first started because I rushed in headlong wanting fancy ingredient combinations and complex designs... waaaaaaay before I was ready for any of it. I spent months here researching other people's mistakes before I started soaping again, and I...

    Palm Oil

Those with an open mind will continue to read on. Those with a kneejerk reaction to palm oil will likely not read any further. If you sell online, you might want to write a blog or post a statement why you support responsible palm oil. I use RSPO palm oil in my soap. Most people aren't...

What soap boxes should I use?

I use a kraft box without a window for my CP soap, I've never had an issue with sweat, in fact, I find it breathes nicely. But I am in a cool, low humidity environment and my soap studio is climate and humidity controlled.

@cassia I wound up buying this: https://makesy.com/products/candle-wax-melter?_pos=1&_sid=5fb75215d&_ss=r?variant=44761715212442 and I love it!

    Cocoa Butter Sticker Shock!!!

I've used it in lip butter and solid lotion bars. I've tried it as a replacement for CB to no avail. It doesn't have the same wonderful combination of quick-melting silkiness and hardness. I've found that Sal is more on par with Shea Butter rather than CB. Its harder than Shea at room temp, more...

    Cocoa Butter Sticker Shock!!!

This seller has been a good source for me for cocoa butter and the best price I've found even with some sales going on: https://www.etsy.com/listing/669251024/raw-cocoa-butter-100-pure-natural?ref=yr_purchases&variation0=1023498320 This isn't the most recent story, but its a good write up of...
