    Sugar syrup crystallizing

I would just strain them out when using the syrup. You can add a little water and heat it, though. Happens in maple syrup making, too, if the syrup gets too concentrated when boiling down.

What soap boxes should I use?

I'm looking at the net weight part. Can I put a range of say 4.5-5.0 OZ in order to cover all my different soap bars? Or should I just use the little wavy line for "approximately" and input the lowest weight of 4.5 OZ, knowing that none of my bars will weigh less than this amount? I'm sure the...

What soap boxes should I use?

Thank you @dibbles and @MelissaG. I just poured over the link posted above and most of what I have is accurate, thankfully. The section that gives specifics on blended ingredients including teas and such was especially helpful as I had no idea I needed to separate coffee into two separate...

What soap boxes should I use?

Ok, another question: Am I supposed to list a complete address or can I just list my city, state, zip code, and phone number? If it helps, my back labels have the ingredients listed at the top and my brand name/ logo in the center with my contact info underneath. Label is horizontal.

What soap boxes should I use?

Thank you for all your help @dibbles! I have samples on the way of kraft brown labels that are 1.5x1.5 square, 1.8x1.8 square, and 1.5x2 rectangle. My plan is to put the name (fragrance), weight, and possibly logo on the front label. Ingredients and contact info will be on the back label.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I sent pictures of the swirly soaps of doom to the customer and included pictures of what I think are the worst looking bars from each batch in full disclosure and she still loves them. I am breathing a sigh of relief because I offered to make another batch unscented (because she already likes...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thank you thank you thank you @Mobjack Bay! I just cut my second attempt at the swirly soap of doom. Lots of air pockets again. I used your advice and grabbed a flexible little paring knife and managed to salvage 6 bars. It felt a lot like I was doing a miniature version of drywall patching but...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I ordered soap boxes and designed simple back labels that I think will work well. Front labels are in the works, I just have to decide which labels to buy that will match my back labels and find a corresponding Avery template. I keep telling myself this will be worth it when I'm finished because...

What soap boxes should I use?

Thanks so much. I have rectangle kraft labels from onlinelabels that are 1.5 x 2.83 for the back. I'm still debating on two ways of labeling. 1. Front (under window) having my brand/logo and the back label having the name of the soap and ingredients listed. Or.. 2. Front (under window) having...

What soap boxes should I use?

Thank you. I think the Crafters Choice will better fit my soaps. The other ones have a slightly bigger measurement. I guess, now my question is: Will my soapboxes look funny if my back labels are landscape view even though the window and front label will be portrait view? Or should I make the...

    Vanilla that doesn't discolor

I used BB's Sugar & Spice. It smells lovely, but I'll never try to swirl with this FO again. It accelerates big time, even in a high lard recipe. I now have a 5lb loaf of a wonderful smelling, air pocket laden soap and another 5lb loaf that'll likely be the same.

What soap boxes should I use?

Have you tried the Gersoniel brand (or any other brand) from Amazon? I'm wondering if there's a discernable quality difference because I can get the Amazon ones shipped quicker. Also, I found an Avery template that's compatible with my kraft labels from OnlineLabels! I already had my design in...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made the Swirly Soap of Doom: Take 2 last night. I used my original method, thinking maybe the problems I had the first time were due to soaper error. Nope, I am convinced this FO accelerates and I will never use it again unless it's a one-color or uncolored soap. I stickblended in very short...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I want links to all of these stories. To me, this is what an Adventures in Soapmaking Storybook should look like. We need a book full of these types of stories to pass down through the ages. I'd buy it.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I don't have a pallette knife, but I do have trimmings. I wonder if I could market these as Wholey Holey Sugar & Spice.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I cut the swirly soap of doom this morning. Definitely not what I was going for, but it doesn't look bad for a plopful situation. There are several air holes, unfortunately.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made the 5 lb swirly soap of doom this morning. I should know better than to mess with a recipe that already works. I decided that instead of making 4 separate batches of oils and lyes, I'd make things easier and make one batch and split it before coloring. Bad idea! The TD didn't lighten up...

What soapy thing have you done today?

That sounds lovely! I wish I could just order a wee tiny bottle of every scent so I know what I like rather than buying a trial bottle and not liking it and not using it.
