    Reintroduce..

Thanks :) And sure I'll jump on.. always lots of soaps to swap with. In fact.. I thought of you the other day in my shower.. haha. Found one we swapped a long while back and man was it nice!!

    Any suggestions on this recipe?

Personally I don't go that high on coconut oil and do 25 usually at most with a good % OO. I'd drop it down if it were me and I always add castor but you wouldn't need extra bubble action here. :) Do you have any other oils to work with? I can't enlarge the pic for some reason so can't read...

    Can this lard be saved?

Yeah I would just skim it off. My neighbors dog gets into my workshop any chance he gets and sneaks into my tallow bins. Now I have secure bins/buckets. :) Maybe get some buckets? I find it's much easier to take the 45 min and get those blocks or giant vats of oils into smaller containers to...

    Reintroduce..

Went on a bit of a hiatus but I still thought of SMF often.. decided I needed to try and become involved here again. Soaping is still my fav 'craft' by far and I'm working on it daily or weekly so thought I'd start popping in again and try to get some life stress out with some relaxing chit...

    Ask for baby soap?

Only thing on a baby should be Castile IMO.

    minimum cure time

I don't sell anything before 2 months unless it's Castile. Just a rule I follow since I like rules. :) I have given away before that, but I let them know the don't use before date.

"start out with melt and pour"

Yes definitely.. M&P is creating with soap already made and adding some extra additives for artistic appeal and a little extra personal touch to make it unique. I've used it in the past and tried making bars but didn't like it. I still work with it in various ways but not for soap bars I sell...

    Stinky Soap, Not Deodorizing

You'd need to post your recipe and so we can suggest changes to make and maybe see what's making it too mild if that really is the issue. Possibly you just used a scent that doesn't smell as nice in soap.. it does happen. ;/ I have some I love but smell off in my CP after washing. What EO or...

How long does it take to get approved for the scent review board?

Cool.. I've tested tons and def. need help with some that don't have reviews online like BB. It does ring a bell and believe its off of here though right? Do you have a link? Thx hun. :)

How long does it take to get approved for the scent review board?

What is the 'scent review board'? Kinda get an idea but looks like you need approval so I'm intrigued what it could all entail. lol

    Stinky Soap, Not Deodorizing

Are you saying it's maybe too mild and not cleaning him well enough? I know some store bought deodorants are super sticky and have a hard time coming off.. part of why I make my own. But husband always has to use a wash cloth and scrub pretty well to feel clean in that area. Is that maybe the...

    New curing bins..

Hazel and Jules.. it's at Ikea.. not too much for the set of 3. $60 total. :) Was worth looking and looking and looking. Glad i held out!

    New curing bins..

Sure no problem.. this one in particular is the Antonius (not algot) but there is another just like it with mesh baskets so thus, smaller holes, but it's twice the price. These work well with papertowels and I'll do cardboard for any not fairly firm after 2 days curing.

    New curing bins..

Thank you. :) Luna it's really freed up a lot of space. I love finding things that can go vertical and are easy to use.

    New curing bins..

Thought I'd share my giant (tall) rack that I finally got! It's taken me forever it seems to decide on one and this set overall was the biggest bang for the buck IMO since each bin (I have 12) holds at least 3 of my 4 lbs loaves with room to spare so they aren't squished at all. One bin also...

    Water Question

I do depending on what I'm making. Like another said, I like to do it for Castile or Bastille and also for some recipes I've made a lot and know how they move. I don't use it when I want to do fancy colors and such that take a long time. Also when using a new fragrance I can't seem to get/find...

Cracks on top of my soap

Yes wooden molds will always keep the heat in more than plastics or silicone. If you always use the same recipe, I would suggest making sure the soap is in a cool spot next time. :) It really is a beautiful soap though... crack and all.
