Ash or Mold, Quick Responce Apprecated.

Yeah DeeAnna says it's ash.. go with that. Her word on things like this is pretty much the gospel. :)

    Grrrrrr....Soap on Stick :-(

That's too bad. :( And red thyme! That's some pricey soap. How much did you make and what %?

    Nature's Garden vs WSP?

Great post Shalisk.. love the way you broke it down. :) For me personally it's all about scent and I don't pay much heed to the cost if it's a good one. Wish you could break down lots more of WSP's prices vs. others this way. lol I have a huge spread sheet of container costs but never worked out...

    What Is This?

Yes the cold will do it. With a few of my herbal infusions I have to store in the fridge afterwards and they will turn solid. In moderate cool I can see them having small solid places or if the store had them in the back cool area and brought them out.. Could be them still warming up. Kwim?

    Nature's Garden vs WSP?

Never put all your eggs in one basket. Like anything else.. Suppliers differ and where one might excel they may also fail in another place. I have tried about 12 places and currently but regularly from 5 places. My bulk is from NG and WSP. I have about 30 from each of them and consider those...

    Olive Oil In Bulk

I'm in California but use Soaperschoice a lot.. the Olive Oil price is good for the 35 gallon if you are also buying something else to help with the ship cost and make it more worth while. Otherwise, I priced out oil at Costco per oz. vs Soapers and it's only a small amount higher. I go there...

    Blotchy whipped body butter

Is you recipe off possibly? Not sure why you'd have separation but that's possibly it. Can you get a better picture? Also.. if I were you.. I'd be putting a spoon or something in there very slowly and pulling some of that area out to examine it better. If you do.. snap a photo of the spoon and...

    Blotchy whipped body butter

My guess would be the mica? I've never used any kind of coloring in my butters but I've used the other ingredients with no problem. Is there any water at all?

Hot weather... Keep new soap in fridge

If it's only a small amount like on the surface, leave it be. If it's pools or any sort of depth at all.. It might be so much to cause it to be lye heavy if it doesn't soak back in.

Will these metal thins hold creams and salt scrubs without leaking?

I have these in 3 sizes and they are good for thicker salves and balms, lotions not so much. The lid can slip if it melts and also you get rust with water bases. Sugar scrub maybe depending on the recipe. And yes I have used electrical tape and also use heat bands. Both is good for summer and...

    salt bar question

I'm no expert and my recipes are now set for all my molds in terms of weights but I don't believe I did 1\2 since the salt wouldn't take up the same volume as oil/water. I want to say I did 2\3 but I'm on vacation so can't check my old notes. Curious to see the answer and if my thinking is...

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - heat transfer

I'm on vacation and can't wait to get home and do more like this but chocolate. I'm dying not soaping while in Tahoe. But it's gorgeous here right now.. Need to do a beach soap and use the lake for inspiration with it's 3 colors of blue.

Fruit fo from BB or NG

Fruit slices is a big seller in my whole product line. Sweet chili pepper I think it's called (not home and I change my names so don't recall exactly the NG name) is a great one too. Blackberry.. Mix with a lime.

Split batch problems - Need help

I do splits a lot but I never split the oil and water. I add everything, bring just to emulsify then split. My batches always come out fine. :) Try that way first then if still a problem, I'd look at the recipe. Have u used this recipe before without splitting?

    New To Soap Making

Yeah I wouldn't do M&P.. IMO it's like apples and oranges. Basic 3-4 oils (olive oil, coconut, lard or palm and castor) that won't take forever to trace, meaning not too high olive oil %, unscented so no chance of acceleration, in a basic line box of some sort or a basic soap loaf. Slowly get...

    Refined or Unrefined?

I would never use my pricey unrefined virgin CO in my soaps unless it was a special one for a good reason. Maybe some others do but I use good old 76 degree organic. Jojoba for a dog.. maybe I would get the pricier option for that since dogs have finicky skin. kwim? Are you adding the jojoba...
