Wow, tried this Euro salt recipe, love it!

I've been following this thread, waiting for when I have enough energy to try a new batch... I think it will have to wait another week though, fibro has been kicking my butt pretty hard for a few weeks now. Bleh. BUT, I just had to stop in and say how PRETTY everyone's soaps are! They cheer me...

Gracefruit food grade FOs and monoi de tahiti

I know the scent from the monoi will not survive saponification. Best to use it for SF in hot process, but the scent is still faint. And the 'tiare' gardenia scent sure is hard to find where it doesn't change in soaping.

Clear LS KOH discount, how low can you go?

From my experience, LS with higher that 3-4% tends to either get cloudy, especially at cooler temps, or the excess oil floats to the top over time, not necessarily right away, but over some months it will, whether it was cooked in or added later. Cooked in takes longer for the oil to float up...

Please help me!! My Soap is not the same what i saw in youtube!

Yay! You did it. Good start! Ok, a couple things. A little extra water, or a little less water isn't going to kill your soap. It will be ok, as long as there was enough for the lye to dissolve in. Your recipe says 500g total oil, with Coconut oil at 450g and Castor at 50g. Do you mean you...

    Curragated molds,

I've used coroplast without lining, but I don't have the ends permanently fastened, so I can unfold the ends to unmold it easy. I just tape the ends closed so I can unfold the mold. :)

100% coconut oil bulging in silicone molds

I always have to prop up the sides of my silicone molds when they're full. I don't have the reinforced ones. I found a box that perfectly fits it, and sit it inside the box so the sides don't bulge. It's worse when they gel, as the heat makes it softer.

    OK, Seriously. Movie Threads?

I've seen some question verifications that allow multiple correct answers, checking the person's input against a list, like it might ask: "What kind of body product do you want to learn to make?" and answers could be "soap" or "lotion" or "shampoo" or something. Or do like this one, where it...

Please help me!! My Soap is not the same what i saw in youtube!

Start with your oils fairly cool. Just warm enough for the Coconut oil to be melted completely. Wait for your lye-water to cool down also. Once the coconut oil starts saponifying, it will start heating back up on its own, especially if you use the fruit puree, because sugars cause it to heat up...

Please help me!! My Soap is not the same what i saw in youtube!

Remember: Small batches until you get the hang of it! 2lbs is good. LYE CALCULATOR! Double-check all your numbers before you start, so you don't waste ingredients and money with mis-measuring. 10% or less on the Castor, or you'll have a sticky bar. At least 10% superfat entered on...

    Benefits of cure

DeeAnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.... When do we get a BOOK? lol This is great info. I had noticed that younger soaps just kindof "thud" while older soaps are definitely harder and, I don't know about rubbery, but just have a whole different feel in the hand when picking them up and playing around with...

    JellyBelly and KatieBelle

Yeah, they're quite the technologically-minded kitties. They like to push buttons. And type on hubby's keyboard. And play with my tablet. Yesterday they managed to send an IM from hubby's computer when he left his messenger on. I have no idea what it means, but it went to my mother, who found it...

    OK, Seriously. Movie Threads?

What about a captcha and/or "answer the question" thing on new user registration (not per post)? Although bots are getting better at the captchas, but they still can't figure out the question stuff (like "What is 2+2?" type thing). Preventing the bots from registering would reduce the spam, and...

Got some new EOs but don't know how much to use

Soap Making Resource has good prices on some EO's (not so good on others, but changes frequently!) And they offer sales often on various sizes, so that sometimes you can get a good bulk deal for the same price as a smaller bottle. :)
