    Pure Michigan Soap

Welcome! Wow, 27 years of soap making! Great wealth of knowledge. I can't wait to read some of your responses. I started an organic garden at my school, and we have a nice herb garden from where I can gather most of my herbs. I would go crazy with an entire farm to choose from! Do you have...

Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?

Congrats! Great looking soap, nice and creamy! I can't wait either and that is why I mostly HP. I still let it cure for about 2 weeks to make sure all the water is out. But I love to use a fresh bar right away when it's a new recipe. Welcome to the addition!

I also only use essential oils, but mine seems to stay put. How many ozs are you using per PPO?

    Goat's Milk Recipes Needed

But we all have to go through some messing up or we can't call ourselves soap makers! LOL! I would leave out the Crisco and Avocado oil. I used Crisco in the beginning of my soap making and those soaps are no where near the quality of the soap I make now. Do you have any other hard oils like...

    What am I doing wrong???

Okay so it doesn't look exactly like the one in the tutorial...I think it looks great! Just don't show anyone the tutorial and they will never know. You are brave! I've been soaping for 6 months, have made about 30 batches and have yet to attempt anything so complicated. You go girl!

    I Finally Did It!!!

Welcome to the dark side....muhahaha! Congrats on your first batch. It is so much more fun than M&P. You actually cause a chemical reaction and make something. It still seems like magic to me! Post pics when you get a chance.

    Hot process soaps

I do most HP and love it. I do not add sodium lactate, but do a full water discount. I do mine in a crockpot. I start out on high and get all my oils to trace. Once I reach trace, I cover the pot turn it down to low and watch it for about 20 mins. to make sure it turns on itself. After it...

    Best Everyday Soap

JusDin, I haven't used x10 orange so I can't say. The EO I buy reads "Sweet Orange." I use 1 oz of sweet orange to .5 oz of patchouli for a 2 lb load. I know that is a little heavy on scent, but the orange does fade over time. Hope that helps.

    My first HP!!!

Congrats! I love HP, but I use a crockpot. Obsidian is right, once you hit trace leave it alone and just watch it. Look for a cheap crockpot I find it much easier and more consistent than doing it over the stove.

    Soap on a rope?

If you have ever seen candles being made, they wrap the wick around a pencil, put the major part of the wick in the candle and suspend the pencil on the lip of the candle container. Maybe you and rig up something like that suspends the rope it over your mold while keeping part of it in the...

Welcome...pssst it's not too late to leave, it's ever addicting! Okay now that I gave you a warning, don't cheap out on a scale or a thermometer. You don't want your measurements to be off and speaking from experience don't use a candy thermometer it's a pain. Don't spend money on EOs or FOs...
