    I made a lamp!

We did a little rearranging in our living room about a month ago and, once done, realized there was one corner that needed a small lamp. We didn't have a spare and I didn't feel like going shopping for one so, after a little looking around, I turned a candle lantern into a lamp. John helped with...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

If you search "shampoo" on Humblebee & Me, you'll find a few liquid shampoo recipes (I was just looking at her shampoo recipes this morning). Bars aren't necessarily better or worse; they're made with similar ingredients but without the water.

    New Member Saying Hello

I've been wanting one but have been putting it off, mainly because of price, but also because I'm trying to scale back a bit. That said, though, I'm still lusting for one.

Hiya!! A homogenizer??? I'm green with envy! I'd love to know more about it; which one did you get?

    Gaius the Grad

It goes by far too quickly, doesn't it? Con"grad"ulations to Gaius, and to you!

Rice water soap, is it worth it?

I only make CP. I've never made HP soap. When I make mine, I cook the rice in more water than required (like double). Once well cooked (overcooked, really), I strain it and puree it to make a slurry. I rinse the rice before cooking it and use that water to dissolve the lye, with as much...

Rice water soap, is it worth it?

You might be interested in this thread: https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/triple-rice-soap.73935/ I can's speak to fermented rice water but I love me a Triple Rice Soap.

Help! Shower steamer/bath both having white spot after drying

Too much liquid. Those white "spots" look like the steamers activated. The RA is your binder; you only need enough to bind everything together. Depending on the humidity, that may be more or less than than your recipe recommends. @AliOop, these are shower steamers, not bath bombs. They look...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I second this recommendation. I usually make the 30-minute LS. Start to finish in less than an hour.

Trade Fragrance oil for Knitted Washcloth

Wash cloths are normally knitted or crocheted with a worsted weight cotton yarn. Lily's Sugar & Cream or Bernat are two popular brands. (used to work in a yarn shop)

    Saccharide Isomerate (aka Pentavitin)

I've never even heard of saccharide isomerate. I do use xylitol, betaine, and/or sorbitol in several of my creams/lotions. I use squalane in a few products, including my lip balm recipe.

    Stevia sweetener in lip balm

Check into some of the Lorann candy flavouring oils; if you have a Bulk Barn near you, they carry some. Also, some of the Canadian soap suppliers carry lip balm flavour oils. Depending on which part of Canada you're from, check out Candora, Windy Point, Voyageur; I'm sure there are others as...

    Review From My Niece

Isn't it amazing to be validated like that? My daughter only uses my soap; she's visiting right now and has already raided by stock. My mom used to rave about my soap, too.

    Gift Ideas

Crazy, isn't it? I'll use the boxes for gifts and I'll take the products out of them to sell separately. My lotions sell well and my soap sells well; who'd have thought that putting them together in box wouldn't sell at all? And they're so cute! I'd purchase something like that for friends...

    Gift Ideas

I might do that but even the Christmas gift boxes I made didn't do well. I ended up giving several away to fellow vendors.

    Gift Ideas

Remind me when the next "holiday" comes up... DO NOT MAKE GIFT BOXES!! Believe it or not, I didn't sell a single one at the Mother's Day market. Not one! I made 10.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Interesting. I make the Shark Sauce for my granddaughter and it works so well for her that she no longer buys a commercial product (I forget which one she was using but it wasn't cheap). Her father has cystic acne and she, unfortunately, has inherited it.

What do you put body/dusting powder in?

On Amazon, look up "talcum powder container with puff"

    Soap Boxes

It really depends on the printer. We prefer pdf files but they need to be created and set up properly. As long as the file is a vector file, most print shops can work with it. You're going to want to look for someone who makes custom boxes; your local print shop may be able to help with that...
