    Lip balm advice.

The Lorann oils are available at any place that sells candy making supplies. They're usually used in baking and candy-making.

    MSM/Emu ol cream for arthritis

In the first post of this thread, Zany writes: "After a bit of research, I later tweaked the formula to contain the optimum amount of MSM (10% of water weight) and Emu Oil (7%) for effectiveness."

    Lip balm advice.

Let me see what I can find.... we had a discussion about it not that long ago. Here's the thread: https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/honey-in-balms.93519/#post-1013019 There's a picture in the thread of how my little experiment turned out. As you can see by the picture, I could not get...

    Lip balm advice.

Yup. I also tried a lip balm with honey and it separated as well. It's possible that it was too much honey, though.

    Lip balm advice.

Glycerin doesn't mix well with oils at all. I'd say that if you're not having any issues with the honey precipitating out, keep making it. Personally, I use oil-based candy flavourings. Lorann makes some that are suitable as do some soap suppliers.

    DOS?

Or.... call it a design feature. I'm pretty sure it's absolutely harmless.

    DOS?

If you just recently made your batch, it's unlikely to be DOS. What other additives are in your batch?

    Bubble Bar Recipe

I've been making that same recipe for several years and they've always worked well. I do tell my customers that they can put it into a mesh bag and hang it from the faucet to give more bubbles. One of my friends loves it for her jetted tub - she gets massive amounts of bubbles. All that said, I...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I'm waiting for my daughter, grandson, and son-in-law to arrive and don't want tomake a mess in the kitchen but I decided I'd make a small batch (250 ml) of lotion geared to my aging skin. I have very dry skin and I've discovered that, as much as I like fragrance, I don't like it on me. I make a...

    Address on labels

Hi fellow Canadian. Unfortunately, you do have to have your address on the labels. You can, however, use a PO box. We rent and I'm a silent rebel and, technically, my labels are non compliant; I use my city, province, and postal code (it's a short street). I even add my phone number (cell...

    Phytoceramides in Face Wash Formula

As lovely as ceramides are for your skin, I (personally) would save it for a leave on product, not something you're going to wash off your face.

    Lip Balm or Lip Gloss?

I sell lip balm and I tried selling lip gloss.... I'll stick with the lip balm. And, as much as I like the look of lip gloss, I prefer using lip balm. I feel like it's more beneficial, less drying. I have two fantastic recipes, my standard lip balm and an overnight lip balm and both have been...

    Honey in Balms

I wonder if they're continually stirring/mixing as it cools, and then filling the jars while it's still soft, pourable. If you want a lip balm with lanolin, this recipe is one of my best sellers and a product I will never be without. It's my every day lip balm...

    Honey in Balms

I tried it.... here's the result: It separated. I could NOT get it to combine at all.

    Honey in Balms

I love the idea of using something like lanolin as a basic emulsifier, as per @Mobjack Bay's post above. You might want to do a little bit of experimenting.

    Honey in Balms

I think I'll try this; I have a tub of honey that needs using up and I have a whole week off.

    Honey in Balms

I don't think honey powder is oil soluble; I've always understood it to be water soluble only. I use it in some of my (oil-based) lip scrubs and it doesn't melt; it behaves very much like sugar.

    Honey in Balms

You can do it but it will separate out eventually because oil and water... yeah.

    Paper labels question

I work in a print shop; any print shop should be able to print and cut your labels for you. I shrink wrap my bars so I can't advise on the weight of the stock you'd want to use but I have soapmaking customers who prefer lighter card stock - 65 lb or 80 lb. card. Any heavier than that, and the...
