    Making lye water in advance.

Please do not store lye in glass. Over time the lye will etch the glass, making it weak and prone to shatter. Only store lye in heat resistant plastic with a 2 or 5 in the recycle symbol.

    Getting steric acid to melt

Well you probably don't want to use stearic acid. Most of it is made from palm oil.

Actually if you make the base of your soap scented, and then make the faux cells and the swirled layer on top unscented, you can try out a new FO and still do a cool design. My demo base the FO riced and accelerated horribly. that is why I put a thin layer of white on top to smooth it out...

    Salvageable??

I would personally just average the SAP values of the oils, and make a 500G batch and save the rest to see how that turns out before using the rest.

Was your coffee made with tap water? Do you have hard water? There could be metals in your tap water that triggered the rancidity

    Confused about equipment!

I like having lids so I can pre measure out a batch of oils and then cover it so when I am ready to make soap I can just pop it into the microwave (w/o the lid) and go.

Syndet shampoo bar - any tips for forming a smooth looking bar?

I am not DeeAnna, but here you go: In the 2 articles below, Susan talks about using BTMS-25 when the recipe calls for BTMS-50 tho she uses cetyl alcohol instead of stearic acid. Both are used as a thickener usually, with stearic acid creating a thicker product than cetyl alcohol. BTMS...

No problem. I used a 33% lye solution and used less than 10 seconds of blending to just get to emulsion.

Nothing special - other than a slow moving recipe. the fluid acrylic cell pour refers to a technique used in abstract painting where acrylic paint is mixed with several things to make it more fluid and poured on to a canvas. My recipe for is was: 40% Lard 20% Olive 15% Avocado 15%...

    scent and soaps

You can not make chemical free soap. You have to use NaOH to make lye, that is a chemical. All of your oils are just triglycerides - which are chemicals. Even the water you use is a chemical. Anyway, what do you mean you add " beewax, clay, cocoa butter and other things"? Beeswax and...

No, the video in the description is "Water & Fire". I do not see where she cuts the cells there - tho she might have cleaned them up a bit before using them. In the video "Earth & Fire" she does a mosaic where she creates a geometric pieces to create a scene, but that is not the inspiration...
