    Using Titanium Dioxide

I make only goat milk soap and love its natural creamy color but would like to do some color swirls. I have read about using titanium dioxide to whiten soap and wondered if it worked with goat milk soap. I also read about water based versus oil based titanium dioxide but when I look at it to...

    Ready to learn something new!

I was so scared of the lye when I made my first batch I was nauseated! I still respect the lye but having gotten a little on my arm without disastrous consequences has helped a lot.

    FO stopping trace?

I often experience thinning of my trace after adding FO but just keep stick blending and it comes back to trace quickly.

I have nothing to add except that I hope all works out for you and your unlucky customer. I am looking into insurance now!

do you list sodium hydroxide (lye)

I list it as sodium hydroxide and list every ingredient no matter how small. I am a retired nurse and don't want some one with an allergy to say coconut oil to suffer a reaction to my soap. I sell some for resale and insist that even though they re-label my soap that they list the ingredients as...

    Pic request of bubbles

I am sad to read all the negativity on this thread. We all have a common interest, making soap, and hopefully we can respect our differences and learn from each other. To use animal fat or not is a personal choice and while it bothers one person it pleases the next. I have really enjoyed this...

Help !! Goat smell won't go away!!

I use my goat milk frozen in cubes and do not let it gel. I place my molds on racks so air can circulate and put a fan on low to keep it cool. I never had detected any foul odor.

    Pic request of bubbles

I don't use added sugars in my soap but my soap is all made with goat milk and since lactose from milk is a sugar maybe that helps. I do add honey to my oatmeal and honey bar.

    Sodium Lactate

I can't really help with the sodium lactate but I make CP goat milk soap and have never had any problems. My bars dry out well in the shower and at the sink between uses.

    Pic request of bubbles

My bubbly number is pretty low for my soap 17-19. However I produces tons of lather and 40% of my recipe is lard. The other 60% is olive oil, coconut oil, & castor oil. I don't have any pictures of the bubbles.

    Pic request of bubbles

I great bubbles in my soap by adding castor oil at 3-5%; any higher and your soap can be sticky and hard to unmold. I put my soap in the freezer for 25 minutes and it unmolds every bath cleanly.

why did my soap crack in the fridge?

I don't put my GM soap in the fridge or freezer. I elevate the molds on a rack and put a fan blowing on them. They don't go through the gel phase at all.

put soap in freezer-still stuck in mold

I am having good results unmolding my soaps but placing in the freezer for twenty minutes. They pop out of my silicone molds cleanly. I make goat milk soap and use castor oil @ 3% and was having problems with sticky soap until I tried the freezer. I also use mineral oil on my silicone molds that...

    What's your next soap experiment?

I was looking at the soap trimmings I had leftover after preparing my soap for sale and thought how much the trimmings look like toasted coconut. I am thinking about making my goat milk soap with coconut FO and crumble the darker trimmings on top to resemble toasted coconut. Weird idea?

Soda Ash even after spraying with alcohol

Since I use all milk for my liquid that is not the problem. When I first started soaping I gelled my soap and never got ash but I do not like the dark color unless I am making my mocha soap. I am going to post before and after photos here after I sprayed the ashy soap with 91% alcohol. It took...

any recipes for people with skin problems? IE exzema?

We are fortunate to have goat milk from our own dairy goats. My wonderful husband takes care of the animals, milks and does all the clean up when I make soap. I sell online @ https://www.etsy.com/shop/MooreThanBags if anyone is in need of the oatmeal and honey goat milk soap. I don't know if I...
