    Turning salt bars into scrubs?

Mine was 80% CO, 15% OO, 5% Castor I've tried the bars and haven't yet been scratched to death, but have been able to feel the odd light scratch from the salt - from what I've read this is unacceptable and could end in a lawsuit (I quite like it though!) However, people use straight up salt...

Mixing fresh CP batter into rebatch?

By Jove that might just work, never would have thought of that! My soap is a fair bit older but if it means I don't have to hover over a double boiler then I'm all for it, cheers!

    Turning salt bars into scrubs?

No, you're absolutely right, grinding down the soap itself! I say grinding instead of shredding because the soap itself is that hard that it crumbles almost to dust! I tried using it in the bath, but couldn't seem to get much lather at all (and it left a LOT of scum) won't be doing that again...

    Rice Bran Wax

I only ever looked on amazon/eBay, but had bought Candelilla wax just before that, so I'm waiting to use it all up before buying anything else! And I don't I'm afraid, one day I will though, I've heard great things about it!

    Rice Bran Wax

I'm also looking at the wax for lotion bars, but never heard of it being a palm oil substitute! How interesting - I hope someone with some experience with this replies (and I'm so sorry if getting a notification of this reply got your hopes up! :D)

    Turning salt bars into scrubs?

So I have some himalayan salt bars that I'm really not happy with, but can't bear to throw out - I can't remember where I saw it (and can't seem to find the thread) but heard that you can grind them down fine to use as a scrub I'm guessing you would need to add some oil to bring it all...

My salt bars are looking a little, uh, weird

Oh the scent has been massively misbehaving, it likes to disappear and reappear randomly it seems! Have you noticed the same scent-eating properties in brine bars? That looks to be my next thing to try. I just love how hard these salt bars are but can't stand how they look!

My salt bars are looking a little, uh, weird

Thanks for all your advice peeps - I don't sell as a business or anything (I feel like I'm no where near experienced enough for that yet, this is just for fun) But I do have a group of friends very interested in the process who always want to know what I'm whipping up next and whether they can...

Mixing fresh CP batter into rebatch?

In short, I added waaay to much red clay into my bars and they're bleeding colour like anything - if I rebatched, could I add fresh CP batter to the mix to dilute the colour some? Is that a thing? Would I pretty much end up hot processing? (Which I have never done before) Normally I'd just use...

My salt bars are looking a little, uh, weird

I expected the speckling, but not so much the texture... I'm so miffed I didn't see those posts before I made the soap, or I wouldn't have bothered! Although, I've been using a bar for about a week now tand been loving it so far - No injuries as of yet! :D Can't beat that 'shaving foam'...

Confetti Soap - Why do the math like this?

I actually sought out this thread just for the video, as I'm drawing up plans for a layered soap with confetti in only half of the layers, which I want to all be equal sizes! So for some of us the maths is actually quite handy! But for just a single colour soap? No chance, life's too short...

My salt bars are looking a little, uh, weird

Hi all, My salt bars are a whole 7 weeks old, and I've been waiting for a sunny day to get my photos done and uh, well: What on earth is going on here? It's like the salt grains have sucked out all the pigment around them. It doesn't look as bad when wet, but looks exactly the same when it...

    Masterbatching lye with aloe juice

I'm not an expert by any means, but I recently tried a new brand of lye that wanted to stick to itself way more than dissolve when a liquid was introduced, and required violent attacking with a fork to keep it from clumping. It was still absolutely fine after straining though! Purely...

What scents do the guys like?

I'm mainly an essential oil kinda guy, and very partial to anything with bergamot, with cedarwood coming in a close second (anything I make for myself tends to be a blend of these 2, it's fantastic) Anything with a mint or coffee scent also seems universally liked in my experience!

Tools for making tiny soap batches? (Milk frother?)

Hi all, My current conundrum is this - I'm drawing up some designs for new soaps, which would require a small layer of blue on the top. Now, I only use natural colourants in my soap, and want to experiment with mixing indigo in with my lye water (as it turned very grey when mixed with oil and...

Anyone got any pictures of Red Australian Reef Clay soap?

Alas, I get the feeling mine won't look nearly as nice, my jasmine FO accelerated massively, not giving me enough time to properly mix charcoal into half my batch, and my swirl looks like mud :(:( Maybe next time :D
