    Differences between hp and cp

I do HP because I love to do HP. I was a CP soaper for many years and still do a few batches CP but not as many as I do HP. My CP and HP recipes are all the same and my customers love the HP compared to the CP. Same recipe- two totally different soaps. This is all my opinion and from many of my...

Describing Pine Tar Soap w/o medical claims?

Or a horse's butt...lol. Kinda what Pine Tar smells like. :wtf: I see people all the time on their listings to tell people to google Pine Tar. Not saying it's right, it's just saying what people do. I don't make Pine Tar so I don't know how I would market it. I wouldn't say used for Eczema...

First CP batch - What is this on my soap

LOL- yes mountain out of a molehill. I'm with Judy that is a colorant issue. The soap looks fine. A note about gel though- it is sometimes pretty hard to achieve a full gel with a smaller mold or soap recipe. I find that my 2 pound recipes do not gel half the time unless I'm using milk or...

    Superfat% for castile?

You don't really know if an oil is unadulterated but I wouldn't do an extra light oil. I use Sam's Club brand Olive Oil not Extra Virgin for years and years and have never had DOS from it. Lard is a different story though. LOL For the sake of a lye discount, I would do 3-5% on Olive Oil. I...

    Feeling Discouraged!

Bubbles can come from over stirring with a stick blender. It does help to tamp the mold as well. Don't over stir with the blender. Dos (I've only had it once in 20 years) takes a little while to appear, I think at least it did for me- maybe a few weeks.

    FO question

They discontinued them a couple of years back. I ordered the colorants a couple of years ago and never got them but I got a refund 3 months later.

Peak Cranberry Apple Marmalade... without ricing!

I love the scent but it goes brown for me in HP. :(

    Mango Tango Twist

Gorgeous soap. Fine lines are usually done at thinner trace if trace at all. I stir my batter just until emulsified and staying together for the finer swirls.

aloe vera melt and pour in CP

I've seen a lot of people do it. I'm pretty sure they soap cool and don't gel.

Those look nice on the inside. I have never seen ash that was furry though. It's a very pretty soap. FYI- though- You can have lye heavy soap with a super fat of 5%- it's a good buffer but trust me it can happen. :)

    BrambleBerry.com's Black Raspberry Vanilla

Anne Watson is in the UK? Wow I always thought she was from the US. I read her books many moons ago.

    Feeling Discouraged!

It's hard to tell from the pic or my eyes are bad- lol. Did you measure everything precisely? Did you insulate? What FO did you use? Is there oil on top of the soap? What does it look like on the inside? It's possible that it overheated a bit or is a bit lye heavy.

    Dos?

Adding the FO to the oils does technically buy you more time as well as soaping with full water or close to full water and room temp lye and oils helps as well. If I work with a tricky FO I do add it to my oils as well. Adding at trace can sometimes bring about ricing depending on the FO. Try it...

    BrambleBerry.com's Black Raspberry Vanilla

I've soaped Peaks too and it has never gone tan on me. I always leave white in that soap when I make it as well. It has a small amount of Vanilla but not enough to turn the soap- at least in my experience with it.

    Calendula Oil

This is exactly how I make mine too.

    Soap gremlins!

Your soap pics are awesome at least so far. Mine suck so bad and even after years of practice- they still suck. LOL Your soap looks nice. A piece of advice: Until you get to know the fragrances you are using, if you have a soap start to clench up on you and go funky- throw it into a stainless...

    Calendula Oil
