    Lard V no Lard

I agree with you on the vinegar - here we have a standard (off the shelf vinegars) at 4% and 6% - I haven't found a 5% one yet (mind you, I haven't looked that hard ;)). Your post would be excellent feedback in the Soapmaking Friend forum (where it has a chance to be included in a program...

    Preservatives

There is a section of the community who are sensitive to some of the chemical preservatives - I've seen first hand the contact dermatitis in a friend of mine (that sounds so mild ... their skin would peel off) if they used a particular set of preservatives (the formaldehyde donors). And, as like...

    Pickle Strainer Swirl?!?

Hydroponic grow pots have a similar pattern and are dirt cheap (sorry ... had to ;)) These ones are 2.2 inches, but there's other patterns and sizes (look for hydroponic/aeroponic and mesh pots)

Soapmaking Friend (the online calculator developed by the SMF owners and community) also handles dual lye :) (it also has the ability to handle masterbatched dual lye, which is a feature I think is unique to the SMF calculator) Soapmaking Friend URL: https://www.soapmakingfriend.com/

Finished design of my slab soap cutter

I've enjoyed looking at your cutter designs (especially the cut-out images - those are always fun to see )). In Catherine Failor transparent soap book, apparently there's a design for a flat bed soap cutter with a single (adjustable) wire fixed at one end (to push the soap through, like...

guy trying to give me soap

We have similar laws here in Australia - cosmetic surgery on animals is illegal. Tail docking and ear cropping used to be common in some breeds, but the look is almost non-existent now. I reckon they might think twice about entering the home of the caustic carrying soaper and the bonkers dog ;):D

Easy online tool for making color schemes

Another tool you might like: https://www.sessions.edu/color-calculator/ (This one lets you pick one or more colours from a colour wheel, and then you choose the colour harmony you want, and it will give you the other colours in that harmony :))

    Salt and Hardness

Dean, another one you might like to add to your salty arsenal .... soleseife soap (simply put, this is a soap made with a salt brine, instead of water, to make the lye solution). At it's core, it is very simple - dissolve as much salt as you can in some distilled water (this might take a while...

    Solid Dish Detergent

A few of the folk I know do a "pre-wash" (to get most of the grease and gunk off first), before putting the dishes in the dishwasher, so maybe there still might be a market?

What soapy thing have you done today?

I wrote a book  (At least that how it feels, now that I've gone back and looked at how many words I put in one post to answer a "simple" cationic vs anionic question o_O) https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/anionic-cationic-ingredients.74317/#post-757709 It looked good, from...

    Anionic / Cationic ingredients

It looks like the manufacturer, SEPPIC, has discontinued production of the emulsifier Simulgreen 18-2* (See: https://www.sr-skincare.co.uk/simulgreen-182-958-p.asp) (*edited to add: this is also mentioned in the SwiftCraftMonkey blog that lsg refers to, although the manufacturer's own website...

    a question about curing

I add beeswax to some of mine too :) (I especially like the hint of honey scent that it leaves in soap) elvira, if you wouldn't mind, could you post a follow-up photo of your soap, as it changes? (It would be great to see it progress!) Not alone ... we like soap addicts experimenters here ;)

March 2019 SMF Challenge - Felted Soap

The challenge soaps you entered are so cheerful and happy (I especially liked the garden one with the butterfly :)) SunRiseArts ... I agree with dibbles and think this challenge would be perfect for your art!

    For our New Zealand friends

Condolences from here. We have heard it on our news. I am so sorry :(

    a question about curing

The original poster mentioned that "... half the soap looks white and the other half remained somehow translucent ..." [my underline] I took this as indicating the soap is yellow, turning white. I'm keen to hear back on the recipe (and now the spray lol) :)

    a question about curing

Hi elvira, did you use a large amount of virgin olive oil in your recipe? If so, it is the entirely normal colour transition that occurs in these traditional style castile soaps :) Castiles turning white after the long cure: Castiles made from a cold press olive oil tend to start out a yellow...

Show opportunity - would you do it

Between sweet goat baby pictures and you being the owner/breeder/milker/maker who also happens to be a local (selling to the points of difference) ... yeah, I'd say go for it! :) If you can talk to the show co-ordinators and get at least one different sort of vendor between you, that would be...

Hi Jacqui! Another Aussie here :) (There's a few Kiwi's about the place as well :))

    Soy Wax Users

A bit late to the party, but I recognised the PW422 in the code (from years ago, weird) ... anyway, I think it is a parrafin wax blend, like this one: https://www.kerax.com/product/kerawax-422-5660/ (which is coded KW422, with the KW being the brand, instead of parrafin wax).
