    DOS

The only ways I found to be effective against DOS is 1. Use fresh oils. 2. Store finished soaps somewhere dry and cool, preferably with good ventilation. I've tried Vitamin E and such but frankly the only things worked for me were the above two.

Any interest for a 3D soap stamp design tutorial for dummies?

Hahaha yes I'm still preparing for that. It may take a while as I'm kinda busy with work these days but I'm determined to make it!

    Beer soap with EOs?

My white beer soap used a combo of 20g orange peel eo,10g lemon fo (because lemon eo fades too fast), and 10g ginger eo. Folks like it a lot and says the ginger and orange peel eo really compliments each other, makes it refreshing without too spicy. Despite being a citrus eo, orange peel eo...

    Soaping with egg yolk

I've only made one batch of soap with egg yolk so far so my result may not be the most accurate. I made a castile soap with egg yolk, one yolk for 400g oil. Also added sugar and SL. This was back in early Feb this year and so far the soap is perfectly fine. They weren't stored in perfect...

High oleic sunflower vs ride bran vs OO

SAO is 71% oleic, higher than olive's 69% according to soapcalc. I couldn't give a scientific answer aside from the fatty acids aren't the only way to judge an oil's lather ability lol. I'm keeping my RBO to cut cost when needed but I'm definitly uping my SAO as soon as I find a cheaper supplier.

High oleic sunflower vs ride bran vs OO

If you want to sell I'd put on a clear label of warning but personally I don't think it's necessary to completely discard it. This may sounds insensitive but folks get allergic reaction to all kinds of things. Some are allergic to coconut and palm, some are allergic to olive. Heck, I was...

High oleic sunflower vs ride bran vs OO

I don't use SO since HO version of it is as expensive as OO here. RBO on the other hand, love it. It's one of the cheapest soaping oil here. It can accelerate trace and make the soap yellow. If you don't mind those, they lathers better than pure OO. Sweet Almond is another oil that I like to use...

My emulsified sugar scrub has oil on top

I don't make sugar scrubs but my guess is that maybe your e-wax is not enough. I'm not sure what kind of e-wax you used but usually emulsifying wax are used at 20-25% of the oil phase. If you have 70% oil phase, you will need at least 14% e-wax minimum to emulsify all the oil. Some kind of e-wax...

    Gelling coconut milk soap?

Coconut milk won't just become oil if you heat it...if you cook it too long and too high it'd be scorched milk, but still milk. Gelling happens often in soaping. I gel my soap sometimes on purpose to avoid soda ash. If there's no crack or volcano, it will just be a normal batch of soap, nothing...

    Honey Avocado Soap

Thanks! Thank you! The green color of the soap came mostly from the clay, not the avocado. The avocado puree turned a green-ish yellow color when in contact with lye. Since my last batch was a very pale green even with green clay added so I doubt avocado alone can make a strong color but there...

    Honey Avocado Soap

I made a batch of avocado soap last winter and loved it as facial soap ever since. It was a tiny batch with only 4 bars and I poured way too early. I decided to revamp it this year so I can use it for winter this year and hopefully my online shop will be ready by then. Avocado puree: water 1:1...

100% sweet almond soap turns orange

My other yellowed batches were just plain water ones. I don't use milk often in soaps since they need more caution. All my soaps has syrup in them, some more than the others. I did used twice my usual amount here since I want it to gel on its own. But such a deep color is still rather intriguing.

    Is Castile ever not slimy?

I've only ever made on batch of castile (do plan to make more tho) and it was not slimey, at least not when washing. I added an egg yolk and cane syrup to the oil when mixing and have froze milk as liquid, inspired by a thread discussing egg yolk in soap. Not sure which helped the most or it's a...

100% sweet almond soap turns orange

Not really a problem shooting, since it's not really a problem for me, but an observation and wonder if you guys have same thing happened to you. I always wanted to try a 100% s. almond soap so I did just that last night. 500g sweet almond oil, frozen milk as lye, SL and syrup, oatmeal powder...

    Cocoa Powder Bleeding?

I usually store my cocoa powder in my kitchen since I bake with the same cocoa. It's the dryest spot in my house and I have A/C on most of the time. I mix cocoa powder with just a popsicle stick which worked well for me most of the time since I soap small batches (less than 2lb). If I want brown...

    Cocoa Powder Bleeding?

I usually mix my cocoa powder with glycerin and water. It never clumped on me before. I guess I will stick with clay, mica, and oxides with fancy swirls from now on. Do you add it straight to batter at light trace? I always mix it with glycerin& water or oil because I worry it will clump if I...

    Cocoa Powder Bleeding?

I used cocoa power to color a batch of linear swirl soap last weekend. Forgot to add the EOs so I need to make another batch anyway but I observed something odd with the part with cocoa powder in it. As you can see, there are weird looking dots on the surface. I almost thought it was mold as...

What is your worst acceleration story

It's a brand produced locally in my country so I doubt you will get your hands on it lol. It's mostly used in manufacturing sythetic cleanser, candles, aroma beads, etc so it wasn't designed with CP soap on mind. I had to test all of them myself. That's why I stick to imported FO or local EOs...

What is your worst acceleration story

I had problems with FOs locally purchased for a long time since I have to wait for months for my order from the US to arrive. I decided to do a super exfoliating bar one day and used a peach FO and a vanilla FO to do a simply layer. I knew the peach FO will accelerate so I saved it for later. My...

Extra sweaty neem oil soap - not sweat!

My 20% Neem soap faired well in the summer heat and humidity and survived the rain season last month just fine, even after I washed it to remove the scratch marks from the exfoliants. No ash, either. I used 1:2 lye water ratio, added SL and syrup.
