    Soap as cancer prevention

I do not l know - have you tried coal tar? Neutrogena T-Gel is what we use. His ears is are definitely more of a flaky Inverse psoriasis but his scalp would get thicker flakes. Neither were anything like the thick plaques arms and legs can get. For his skin we use a JAK (the bio molecule it...

    Soap as cancer prevention

I agree - we’ve been using a coal tar based shampoo for my son since he was three (he’s 12 now, so almost 10 years) daily to control his psoriasis on his scalp and ears. He has not had another psoriasis outbreak on his scalp or ears in almost 10 years with near daily application of coal tar, so...

    10% Honey - Help finding a thread

I think Brambleberry has a 8% honey recipe tutorial on their site. I’ve been experimenting with honey and beeswax too. I followed IrishLass’s recipe :)

    High Oleic Soybean Oil

Brambleberry has high oleic canola oil you can buy as small as 1 pound. They also have free shipping till oct 31 for artisan and do t know the next level up (if you have ordered with them before). For Brambleberry - it’s inexpensive. Oh wait - nevermind got soybean and canola oil mixed up.

    EOs on my skin

I’d guess it’s the orange oil - it’s an incredibly powerful degreaser and can be very irritating. There are several natural cleaning products out there that use it. But - next time wipe away and dilute with water sooner! Likely whatever is causing the irritation happened before you could...

Husband just got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

I wish I was in CO but please accept a virtual hug instead. Have you looked into physical therapy as an option? Because I live three hours ahead of my work colleagues I scheduled my three times a week physical therapy appts (needed to rehab my ankle) early in the morning on week days and it...

Does anybody here promote CP soap as shampoo?

Wow - I never heard of tide. Bleach bath (didn’t make a difference, but it before seem to help people with eczema from what I heard) and coal tar were the first remedies we tried since they are over the counter. Bleach bath ends up being similar to the chlorine in pools, but was still...

Does anybody here promote CP soap as shampoo?

Thank you for the advice @Zany_in_CO and @Kiti Williams. I’ve been thinking of maybe trying a regular shampoo for him but a small percentage coal tar kept psoriasis out of his scalp and ears for many years and I don’t want to mess with what works no matter how terrible it smells! Pine tar is...

Does anybody here promote CP soap as shampoo?

Random thought - my youngest has used a tar based shampoo since he was three (when he was diagnosed with psoriasis). His shampoo seems incredibly drying and I wonder where it would land in this debate.

I’m trying to picture this and failing badly. Can you give an example, lol?

    Linguistic Ponderings....

Yep - I learned these from my grandma too. Davenport was a famous furniture maker in the 1900s and people used to say Davenport to mean couch similar to saying Kleenex to mean a tissue.

    Linguistic Ponderings....

You betcha, Casserole of course 😉 Door wall or sliding glass door? Norfolk accents sound heavily southern to me compared to the VA DC suburbs.

How to handle fragrance oil discoloration in cold process soap

Following - I just bought some activated charcoal to use a FO that discolors dark dark brown. Most of the time I can use titanium dioxide for slight discoloration. Once I embraced a warm brown discoloration and pulled some pre-fragrance oil batter aside (that I added titanium dioxide to) to...

    Linguistic Ponderings....

@KiwiMoose wrote “When I lived in Kentucky, I asked for a glass of woor-ta (in my Kiwi accent) several times at a noisy bar ( and was not being understood AT ALL) before I finally gave up and said wah-derrrr. I got my water instantly.” This has happened to me in an airplane more times than I...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I had so much speech therapy as a child to pronounce read and spell letter blends correctly. I blame this for enunciating letter blends correctly. You wouldn’t think this would cause so much confusion, but I get blank looks for just enunciating letters correctly. For example, asking for...

How do we feel about canola (rapeseed) oil?

I wonder if switching to a high oleic version of canola oil would interfere with the length of time the batter stays liquid? Brambleberry has a high oleic canola oil (unfortunately no information on fatty acids for how high oleic it is) for ~4/lb. I haven’t seen high oleic canola oil anywhere...

    I love cavity molds!

Yes, I meant castor oil :) I just fixed it.

    I love cavity molds!

@Mobjack Bay Not sure where you posted palm oil plus castor oil accelerating - but I noticed my palm oil batter WITHOUT 5% castor oil behaves much nicer than when I added castor oil. Thanks for mentioning this!

    Purple micas…

Bramberry’s Queen’s purple went from dark shimmery purple in the pre-pour batter to pale lavender in the mold overnight for me. I didn’t use titanium dioxide. You’re not alone with this result.
