    DOS... any tips?

Hello! I've been founding DOS in my soaps that aren't that old, around 6 months to a year. My recipe is OO, CO, and cocoa butter with 5% SF. I've been thinking about using sodium citrate, but first I thought I'd ask if in your experience you think it's worth it or I should look for other ways...

Essential Oils became solid and gooey

Hello! Im making a batch of pachuli and lemongrass. I weighted my eos as always (have made this soap for 5 years now) but this time I diluted them in Olive Oil first because I was adding colorant (OO infused with anatto). As soon as I mixed, something gooey appeared on the bottom. I tried...

    DIY slab mold

Hi! For those of you that have made their own slab molds, I'd really appretiate your advice! I made this wooden mold for 44 bars and line it with a 5 mm acrylic and a 0.5 mm plastic but I've found the size of my bars isn't right and it's making them weight less than they'r supposed to. I made...

    Burnt oils??

I was melting cocoa and coconut oil and forgot for a bit and I don't know if I burnt them! the temperature rised up to 100 C (210F), at first I thought I smelled something funny but I'm not sure anymore. Has anyone burnt oils? How can I know for sure? Should I toss them?

lumpy spots and very fast hardening

Thank you! That article is very interesting! I find it weird, though, since I used 33% lye concentration. Isn't this pretty low?

    Variables over unmolding time

Hello! I've been using the same recipe for a while and always cut around 24 - 48 hrs after pouring. This last batch I made was super hard after 20 hrs and when I cut it some of the bars cracked around the edges... What could have happened? Are there any variables that affect how fast it...

lumpy spots and very fast hardening

Hello! I made this soap yesterday and today when I cut it I found all these weird spots that look like stearic but I'm not sure. The bottom half that has the spots was colored with 2 tsp zinc oxide ppo. Also I could barely cut it after 20 hrs of pouring and some corners broke from it's...

    Rice soap with white spots

oooh! Thanks for sharing! Do you boil it or how do you use it?

    Rice soap with white spots

Actually the white is almost gone know and more white spots appeared in it's place.

    Rice soap with white spots

Thank you for your notes :) It looks white on top but the rest of the soap is yellow (I'm guessing the rice porridge scorched it?) But it confuses me why it has this whiter spot, maybe it scorched while being on the mold and the upper part didn't heat that much since it wasn't insulated.

    Rice soap with white spots

Hello! Anyone know what these white spots could be? It has lots of them and then that weird change of color that makes it whiter in the top. Recipe: Canola, Olive, Coconut and Castor oils. Rice porridge added with the lye Colored with anatto rhubarb infusion for the orange and rhubarb powder...

    Safflower and polynsaturated oils

I have no idea actually jajaja, all this canola subject is confusing to me. But what you are saying makes sense :) I'm glad to know I can find some organic canola oil!

    Safflower and polynsaturated oils

Hmmm good question! 😂 I guess because canola is naturally low oleic and I assumed high oleic would need to be GMO?
