    Soap Dough Novelties

More. Soap cookies, eggs, shells.... Also a picture of "shells" made from polymer clay, the real shell, plus the silicone mold. I have a vague idea that I might want to fill these with shaving soap... we'll see. The embeds are sloppy beginner stuff but I have another batch hardening that might...

What soapy thing have you done today?

A speedy recovery. I've had two wrist surgeries - no fun. PS Gorgeous soaps, too!

Thank you Zany! You are (a) the source of Soapmaking Forum Etiquette and (b) The Emoji Queen!

    Donating handmade soap to charities

I think in NYC you probably need some kind of lawyerly thing as well. I'm going to ask around because I got a lotta soap curing.

    Calling me Hun

Of course I realize that. I was referring specifically to hip "woke" types. I've heard people who never so much as set foot below the MD line using "y'all," virtually always to hector someone about politics. If you want to understand the differences in American cultures, I suggest this great...

    Calling me Hun

I didn't mean you should confront her in the middle of a meeting. I didn't know that. I asked why you couldn't ask her, nicely, to address you respectfully in public, before you involved your boss and told him you were going to HR - that's a serious thing in today's world.

Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

Can you ask your local water board? (Or whatever it's called.) Get a confidence report. Most localities have chlorine in water, for good reason. I guess there are some that don't, but I don't know of them. I remember reading about an experiment in Peru where they did away with chlorinated...

    My new baby

They are my favorite too: along with gingers, calicoes, tabbies, and cow cats. And black cats and white cats and gray cats.

    My new baby

Also, it's nothing short of amazing how their personalities can change with adulthood. Give the sweet baby time.

    Calling me Hun

OK. Then I'll change my line to this: when Northerners use "y'all" they are trying to be cool, trendy, and woke. It makes me cringe. It's as authentic as a New Yorker saying "yinz." JMO. Why didn't you just tell her yourself, nicely, that you don't like being called "sweetie"? Yeah, really...

    Soap Dough Novelties

Thanks to both of you - I cannot believe that I mislaid the silicone mold I made from the shell which I used to make these soap-shell-snails. I made another one but it's not so good. We'll see. I have soap curing in it now. I have more soap dough in the works...

    water

@soapbydezine I appreciated your starting this thread. Please don't be offended by a stray remark but I do understand how easy it is to get annoyed and give up. Hope you stay and continue to contribute.

I know, which is why I put "in effect" meaning that it creates the same result just in a different way.

How to get Palm-free & Vegan Conditioning Bubbles? - Please Critique

BTW, there's a palm oil shortage now. Supposedly it will lessen as Indonesia increases exports, but 🤷‍♀️?

    water

True. I've been told that in some countries baking soda is quite expensive - a specialty product. I use it routinely as a cleaner, and an oil sopper-upper.

    water

LOL, learn a new thing every day. I never heard of deionized water before. About the experiment, I'm wondering whether soaping with mineral-heavy tap water isn't the same thing in effect as Zany's sea water. Sea water, of course, contains minerals.

    water

In that case, I'd go with tap water. I was referring to only my experience.

    water

Or why to use distilled water rather than soapbydezine's water. The important thing is: the kind of water you have matters. It so happens my tap water works fine, but someone else's might not.

Well, how do you like that. 🤩 "check the ingredients" PS I did & you're right!

cold process soap not coming to trace even after half an hour

Same here. My first batch caused me no end of worry because it never came to trace. But as I look back, it was w/out doubt emulsified. If I had known then what I know now, I'd have stopped the frantic stick blending, poured it into a mold, and let the process unfold. But no... I babied it...
