    Vanillin is crazy

@ackosel you've convinced me. It's zap free and doing great so far! Feels lovely and has a nice lather. Definitely a keeper recipe. Did make a few changes since I didn't have sodium citrate or sorbitol. I added sugar and some sodium lactate and superfatted at 3%.

    Vanillin is crazy

It smells so good! It was the Autumn Magic fragrance from nature's garden and I'm having a hard time not just grabbing one to use. Patience is hard!

    Vanillin is crazy

Made a batch of lard soap. (Thanks @AliOop for the recipe!) I'm still waiting for it to cure but wish I'd taken some before pictures because this is crazy. I'm still new to soaping and decided to use a fall fragrance that said it would discolor to brown. Never tried a fragrance with vanillin in...

Here you go. It's the one for this forum

    Scaling up your recipe

I'd pick up a cheap slow cooker/crockpot from somewhere. I got one for $20 in college and it still works great. It's now used for soap and my husband gets a bigger crockpot to make his rice and beans in.

    goat milk powder

🤣 I love it! We go through a container of it once a month. I love mixing it with yogurt and granola for breakfast. Or making peanut butter brownies!

    goat milk powder

Now I'm interested... I have powdered peanut butter in my cupboard. This requires research! @Ekuzo why the peanut butter hate? Just curious 🥺🤔

    Scaling up your recipe

I noticed that in recipe 2 it calls for a master batch vs the other recipe just says NaOH weight. Did you use a master batch this time? If so maybe you didn't have enough lye. I also noticed that you used sodium citrate. Do you use sodium citrate or citric acid?

    Soapmaking newbie, recipe options?

You could try lard. Where I am I can get 4 lb for about $8. I hear it makes some great soap (I'm waiting for my lard soap to finish curing so I can see for myself) 😁

    Bar Soap seizing up quickly

I would recommend watching ellys everyday soap making or brambleberry/soap queen videos. They have some great resources/videos on how to make bar soap. They also talk about trace which is where I think you're ultimately going wrong. Your recipe looks fine to me. I've tried to answer some of your...

What's your go to vibe when making soaps and bath products?

I've been obsessed with this playlist/musical lately and highly recommend it. It's based off of the Odyssey and I'm in love. Epic: The Musical My favorites are Ruthlessness and No Longer You.

    So hello finally…

Might take a while to cure but sounds like just a high superfat soap.

    So hello finally…

Looks like when I made pure castile soap. I had to let it sit in the mold for a week before it was hard enough to take it out. Even then it was still squishy for about a month.

    So hello finally…

At this point if you made it on Sunday and the soap is solid I would pull it out, cut off a slice and zap test it. My soaps are generally zap free by day 3-4. If it doesn't zap then you should be good to go.

    So hello finally…

🤣 I've used soap 3-4 days after making it. I know it gets better with age but I just can't wait cause I want to use it and test it. I've gotten better the more soap I make but that's just because my shower can't fit anymore bars in it.

    So hello finally…

You could try cutting/grating it up and hot processing it. @Ekuzo might have better advice. That's just what I'd do since I'm bad at waiting.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Here it is all cut. Some cracking on the top and white spots in it. I think it's all due to the fact that the confetti chunks are salt soap while the base is not. I did insulate it so that it would go through gel.

    First batch just finished!

Most people have different preferences/experiences for this. I use 33%. All just depends on what you like and how fast you want trace. Lower concentrations trace slower. Be careful with glass as after awhile the lye slowly eats away at it and causes the glass to explode. Recommended is plastic...
