    My first swirl!

I love the color blue you got! Was the indigo in powder form? How did you use it?

Interesting! How much citric acid do you use?

    2 Citric Acid questions

I agree with @AliOop . I either calculate by hand or use the Soap Making Friend calculator to determine how much extra lye I need due to adding citric acid. You can add it in the "Select Custom Additives" section and choose: Add with the liquid. This way you use the citric acid and still know...

    2 Citric Acid questions

Thanks for this. I was thinking about which I would use - citric acid or bicarb - if I had to choose one. Do you add the salt that Zany's recipe calls for?

    2 Citric Acid questions

I did account for the citric acid by adding more lye, but you have a great point about the SF. I started making Zany's soap when I was new and nervous about 0% SF, and I just kept on doing that. But I do need to revisit that. Thanks!

    2 Citric Acid questions

It's me again! My more urgent question is my first one: Can I use citric acid at 1% in salt bars? (My salt bars are usually 50% salt.) Do others use citric acid in salt bars? Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Anyone know how to teach spelling?

I teach English as a second language and like the Orton-Gillingham approach. www.ogforall.com I would recommend going through the categories on the right-hand side of the home page, especially Consonants & Vowels, Short Vowel Rules, Spelling and Syllable Division.

    2 Citric Acid questions

I've been using citric acid at 1% in all my soaps to cut down on soap scum. It works really well! I found that solution here at SMF - and my bathtub and I are very grateful! Question 1: Can I use citric acid in salt bars? My salt bars are usually 50% salt. Question 2: I recently started using...

    Palmarosa blends

Thanks so much for the feedback! @KiwiMoose I hadn't thought of pairing palmarosa with another "sweet" EO until reading your suggestion. In the end, I went for palmarosa + orange 10x EO, in equal parts. I like it! @szaza I'm going to try that blend next time. It sounds great - and I have all...

    Soap turning soft when used.

I recently started experimenting with soy wax, and I love how hard it makes my soap. I use 20% soy wax and find it's enough to prevent that "outer layer peeling off" that you wrote about. I've found, though, that the cure REALLY MATTERS with my soy wax soap. At 1-2 weeks it hardly lathers. At...

    Palmarosa blends

I'm about to try palmarosa EO for the first time and can't figure out what to blend it with. I've checked eocalc.com, but I don't have most of the EOs in the blends they suggest. So here are the EOs I do have: anise basil eucalyptus citriodora fir needle ho leaf (which I haven't tried yet...

    Creative soap lining

I've used a plastic tablecloth, cut to size. I can buy it by the 1/2 meter where I live, and it was a cheap way to have a reusable liner.

    Investing in Essential Oils

Litsea cubeba is my most versatile EO. I usually use it with one other EO, lavender, rosemary or anise. Lemongrass can also be used instead of litsea in these blends, but I think litsea has a fresher, softer scent.
