    Storing soap after cure

Just to check, do ya'll store cured bars shrink wrapped or as-is? And what is a good temperature to store them? I'm in a hot & humid climate so I've been curing and storing my soaps in my work office. It's air-conditioned (25C/77F) 5 days a week and on weekends it's still cooler than outside...

How to make swirl soap with two colors?

I like this video as it explains the drop swirl. I had my batter a bit thicker than what the video had as I wanted a clear section of plain base that the other colours didn't cut through and big drops inside. At 4:22 of the video, it mentions how high to pour the batter from. I realised from...

    Palm olein oil

I'm looking to make whiter soaps so haven't considered Red Palm although it's almost the same cost as normal Palm oil here. Guess I have to go down to the supermarket to study the veggie oils that are Palm olein only. 😊 @Zany_in_CO Thanks for the recommendation of Red Palm. I've debated getting...

How to make swirl soap with two colors?

I just did a soap with 2 colours (Rose powder and red clay) with a plain base. It was a drop swirl design. I recommend half plain base, quarter each of colour. Or whichever colour you want more of. Batter should be thin enough to let the colours cut through the plain base. I poured all the...

    Palm olein oil

I'm thinking of switching from Palm to Palm Olein. Would this kind of oil in the picture work? It's non-edible and for lighting oil lamps. It works out to be cheaper than my usual Palm oil by 50%.

    Olive oil soaps

One month on, I've tried my ZNSC soaps and quite liked them. Solid hard bar (I like hard soaps!), small lather but still lathers well. It's "slimey" if there's not enough water to lather and the hand feel of the bar is slippery. Needs a net bag to stop it slipping out my hands. Good cleansing...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I just did some batches of comparison soap with RBO. It really made the batter more yellow than my usual canola or olive. I was making Test 1, Pko vs CO. Test 2, Pko with Shea vs CO with Shea. Other oils which stayed the same for all 4 batches were PO and RBO. All micas added in didn't come...

    Olive oil soaps

Thanks all for the helpful advice! No time this wkend to soap. Will update when I do trial again. My previous Olive pomace didn't accelerate like this one did. Previous was a non-food grade. Current one is a food grade. It was cheaper than the non-food grade so I got it for cooking and soaping.

    Olive oil soaps

@MomInWA No colorants or FO,100% olive pomace. @Zany_in_CO My room temp was about 82F. Oils probably closer to 90F since my Lye was a tad warmer. Oils not heated, just room temp. I used pomace since that's what I have on hand and cheapest for me. Thought it would accelerate faster but it just...

    Olive oil soaps

Tried 2 batches of Zany's No-Slime Castile soap. Both barely hand whisked for 2 minutes and it was so thick already! In a moment of panic, I thought it was a false trace and whisked on. In the end, had to scoop it into my loaf mould and pushed the batter into the corners. Both started as a...

A few of this years soaps...

May I ask how did you stamp your soaps? The stamps are all so clean and neat! Mine just looks like soap being pushed out from the stamp. Could it be I'm stamping too early?
