    How to evaluate your soap

It depends on wether you are evaluating the recipe or the final product. I would argue that they can be separate issues. If I am creating a recipe, I might use or not use an oil or FO because of how it behaves during the soap making process. For example, does an oil or FO cause my batter to...

    Sandalwood?

I can't answer your question but there are 2 other threads that are discussing EO's, you might find your answer there.

    PH test please

Welcome to the forum. There is absolutely no reason for doing a ph test at all for CP soap making. I am not from the UK so I am not sure if the EU or the UK requires ph testing but it is not required in the United States. At least not for lye soap. One reason is because you can't adjust the...

    Preventing gel phase?

I am a personal fan of force gelling my soap but as @Mobjack Bay said above, essential oils do not stick around any better, regardless of force gelling or not. My advice would be to forget about the essential oils and go with fragrance oils instead. I personally don't see any benefits to using...

What water to use in my first batch?

I missed one part of your post. Deionized water is just fine. I use a RO/DI system for my aquariums and then I fill a gallon jug for my soap/cosmetics recipes.

    Best non-bleed Red colourant

Mica is your best option. But color migration in MP soap is a problem with all colorants. Many pre-made (liquids) use synthetic dyes and food dyes as the colors. Those will bleed/migrate almost every time. Some micas will bleed or migrate but generally don't.

    Recycling bottles??

Unless you have a sanitary system that would be FDA approved then I would not refill those bottles yourself. You could be liable for a whole host of bad legal problems. But, you can do like I do with my foaming hand soap. I sell refill packets. They are collapsible bags with a spout on top for...

What water to use in my first batch?

You need to use distilled water or water that has been through an RO filter. If the store has RO water I always use it. The lable on the jug will tell what kind of filter process that the water has been through. Do not use spring water! If you can't purchase distilled or RO water, then you can...

    hair and body cream formulation

Many of the formulas are very similar to each other. I make a lip balm and a hard lotion that share 95% of the same ingredients. The shampoo bar and conditioner bars that I make also share some of the same ingredients. With your situation you will have to remember that what works for you...

alternate ways to cut a soap loaf

I have seen some soap that is cut at different angles but most of them are a result of different shaped molds. I have a watermelon mold and it looks like a pie.

What temperature should i cure my CP soap at?

I lived in Texas myself and it will get way to hot in your garage for storing your soap while it cures. I would suggest that you store it in your house somewhere, where it will be out of your way and out of direct sunlight. Also it should be a place that doesn't get much warmer than what you...

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

Yes, we are making the corrections right now. The sodium thiosulfate comes in two forms.

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

I am going to make a suggestion for the acronym for the thiosulfate. I think it should be STP (sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate) because there are 2 forms of it and the pentahydrate is the correct one. The only difference between the two is the amount of water in it and the shape. Sodium...
