    Night at the fair

Thanks everyone I appreciate it. I was kind of surprised. I haven't made any fresh batches since the last week of May. So I can testify to how important high quality FO's are.

BTW get the silicone tube holders from Wholesale supplies plus, you won't regret it.

    Night at the fair

I buy the wax jelly from Formulators sample shop and then I transfer it to plastic jars. I had a friend of mine test my jars in her lab and everything came back great. I didn't have to add any preservative to it. In its original container it has a 1 year shelf life but I put a 6 month experation...

    Night at the fair

We have a very small 4H fair and this was the first night. Are commercial building is only open for 4 hours a night. I was there 3.5 hours and sold 11 bars of soap and 21 tubes of lip balm and 10 jars of my all natural jelly (vasoline replacement). Pretty happy with the first night.

Ricing and Acceleration? And Cocoa Butter?

One thing I didn't notice in the previous responses was your FO. FO's can often be the sole culprit in fast trace/acceleration and ricing. Have you checked the testing information from the seller you bought your FO from? I buy most of my FO's from NG or NS and I always read their testing...

    What colorants did you use?

Curing & other implications of hermetically sealing lye soap immediately after cutting?

You are right about salt. It's what you call a humectant, they are what makes something a long lasting moisturizer. About sealing your soap within 2-4 hours. I wouldn't recommend doing that, because regardless of how much the soap attracts water, the soap needs air to cure and that can't happen...

Why does my soap look like this?

Welcome to the forum and you are officially banned lol. It's not fair for a beginner to be that talented.😁 I really am joking. It's so great to see beginners with talent because it is the life blood of any hobby or addiction in my case. Without new people like you the art would never survive...

Anyone have a good slow-moving CP soap recipe?

Don't get me wrong, it is one of the longest lasting strawberry FO's that I have used and I have been successful using it mixed with another strawberry FO as a fixer/stabilizer for long-term scent retention. But by itself, look out! Lol🤣

Can you make an Organic Soap?

@earlene is absolutely right, where you are located makes a great difference. I have personally given up on trying to label anything I make "organic" and I didn't even want to get started with trying for "certified organic". What I do now is just try to make the safest product that I can and be...

    Sugar?

Adding ingredients at trace usually doesn't accomplish anything and could make things worse. Take the advice of @AliOop and @ResolvableOwl and you will be just fine.

    Tetrasodium EDTA separated....

Once again @DeeAnna has the best advice, go with what she says and you won't make a mistake.

One batch down, couple of questions! (using beer hops?)

I am going to double down on what @DeeAnna said. Good advice.

Anyone have a good slow-moving CP soap recipe?

This is basically my recipe except for the olive oil. I use high oleic safflower oil instead. However my additives and FO play a large part in acceleration. For example, sugared strawberry FO from Nurture soap moves my batter so fast that I can't get it in the mold before it sets up. So I have...

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

Thanks everyone. I'm healing very fast but just not as fast as I want lol. I have been selling quite a lot of soap but it has all been word of mouth type sales. The fair will be my first public set up. I choose our county fair because it is where a lot of people will know me and I them. I was...

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

I will post some updated pictures of my original test batch as soon as possible. I will tell you this. I used a FO that would be a deep, dark brown without the ZCS and I have no discoloration as of yesterday. I think it is at least 6 months old but I will confirm everything when I post the update.

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

According to my physical therapist and surgeon, I am about 3-4 weeks ahead of where they expect a patient to be after just 3 weeks. I'm doing everything I can to heal faster but I am still about a month at the minimum, from returning to normal activities. Thanks. It's healing fast. I was...

Egg White vs Aloe Vera Gel

There are 2 different types of powdered Aloe vera and then it is broken down further by strength. The cheapest Aloe powder is a mixture of the whole leaf, skin and all. It is best used for things other than soap. The second type is much more expensive. It is made of just the meat of the...

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

I had knee replacement surgery and so I haven't been as active as I was before the surgery. Thanks for asking. I was feeling a bit guilty about not keeping up with all the things going on here. I am getting ready to make an update on the ZCS experiment. I don't have the pictures ready yet...

Using sweet almond and sesame oil in cp soap

This is a very late reply and you may have already got an answer. The reason why most people use EO's in there soap is for a natural choice for fragrance.
