June 2021 SMF Soap Challenge - Garden Inspired

I was quite proud of myself for trying and told him so in so many words! Since I wasn't planning on entering I didn't use any garden ingredients other than my usual store bought aloe juice or I would be tempted to enter, just for kicks :)

June 2021 SMF Soap Challenge - Garden Inspired

I've been enjoying this thread. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling. I didn't enter because I wasn't sure I would have time this month but I did do something on my own to learn new-to-me techniques. My DH said my soap looks like a kindergarten kid's drawing so I'm glad I didn't...

What is the hardest soap you have ever made?

50/50 (LBO/OO) Aleppo I made this past May and salt bars are probably the hardest. Aleppo too new to tell longevity, salt bars not very long. The longest lasting is a recipe that I made up when I first started soaping. It has Kokum, CB and PKO flakes (and SIX other oils). It's my husband's...

    Question about Aleppo!

    The one I purchased on Amazon was roughly 3 x 2 x 1.5

    Question about Aleppo!

I made my first Aleppo soap 23 days ago. I did two 50/50 OO/LBO batches. One has a 2% SF and the other 3% SF. I used a 40% and 37% lye concentration, which I would drop to 33% if I try it again because they both accelerated so much I could barely get them in the mold. My bars are still green so...

    An Amazing Acrylic Soap Beveler

I ordered mine on the WP website. It shipped yesterday!! Maybe @Mobjack Bay should get an affiliate discount :) Can you donate soap if you're not a legitimate business? I've often wondered because I am only making soap for personal use.

    First Move is Done!

I like the Barrington floor plan. It's very "Florida" like. I also like a closet in the bathroom. Makes it a one stop shop when getting ready to go (in more ways than one). It also allows you to get ready for work while your mate is sleeping. Agree with @AliOop about the toilet closet.

    An Amazing Acrylic Soap Beveler

@AliOop too late, I purchased Wild Plantanica's beveler! The high price of the Yvonne beveler made my brain think that the WP beveler was a steal, especially since it was on sale!! Can you say Sucker?!?! I've read about this pricing strategy before and should have controlled myself. Something...

SMF May 2021 Challenge - One Pot Wonder

No, I poured all the batter into my pouring pitcher (pink, green, teal, pink, green, teal, pink) and then poured slooowwwllly into the mold until all the batter was empty from the pouring pitcher. I had the mold propped up on an angle and noted that I had a hard time dropping it back down so...

SMF May 2021 Challenge - One Pot Wonder

@Mobjack Bay My notes say, "I poured the batter into the mold slowly, may have been too slow because the batter got so thick. Had trouble dropping the mold back down flat. Kept it angled pretty much the whole pour." ETA colors used in #3: Ballet Slippers (MM), Siren's Song (NS), and Granny...

SMF May 2021 Challenge - One Pot Wonder

I poured the layers into the pouring pitcher at about the 3:30 position to avoid the raised measurements on the inside of the bowl. The pitcher is not round either - dimensions are ~7 3/4" from spout edge (inside the bowl) to the handle edge and 7 1/4" from side to side. My entry soap was poured...

    Soap Maker Personalities

I'm the opposite about touch - I touch everything. When I see something that draws my attention the first thing I do is touch it. I love the feel of my bare hands pulling weeds and digging in the dirt and I love the coolness and slickness of a live snake held in my hands (as long as someone else...

SMF May 2021 Challenge - One Pot Wonder

My fails because I didn't follow directions  1st try - I disqualified myself because I split the blue into two layers  This was my thinnest pour. At first I hated it but it's growing on me. 2nd try - Again, I disqualified myself because I did a mica drizzle over the purple layer...
