Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

Results at 9 weeks: No change in appearance in either bar, both healthy. Something interesting happened that I hadn't noticed on previous tests. When I finished doing the lather test, I noticed some scum had formed in the sink. My immediate assumption was that it must be the tap water bar. I...

Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

Results at 7 weeks: No change in appearance in either bar, both healthy. 20 seconds: Distilled Water (DW) lather was a little more than Tap Water (TW). However, they were pretty close, maybe not enough to matter at this point? 50 seconds: DW lather was thicker, denser, and I noted that...

July 2022 SMF Challenge - Kiss Pour Technique

Thank you, @dibbles & @The_Phoenix. I'll keep practicing, but not for this challenge o_O . I'm going to enter #3. Here are #1 and #2. For these two batches, I used a small wood box to make 2 bars. #1 FO accelerated. Doesn't look like it should but I like it anyway. #2 Better, but not...

July 2022 SMF Challenge - Kiss Pour Technique

For my first attempt, I used regular measuring cups with short spouts and I dared to try a new FO. Why oh why did I do that? Didn't misbehave too badly just moved too fast for this technique. Second and third attempt I used the long spouted pitchers. Seems my hands won't pour both at the same...

Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

The colors are tricky to catch on film, at least for me any way. In my original post I had a hard time getting a good photo as well. I'll try to take more pics today. I think you may be right about the bubble size. The DW bubbles are slightly larger and not as dense. Here are the same photos...

    Bath Bomb Molds

I used them for shower steamers. I prefer using the mooncake press though. I made a bigger mess with the Milky Way mold and I didn't do a very good job keeping the bottom nice and flat. I used a smaller cavity mold than you have pictured. Yours is cute!

Tap Water vs Distilled Water Experiment

2-week status: Appearance: No change in appearance. No difference between both samples. Lather: Tap water sample was faster to build a nice lather but I think the Distilled sample finished stronger. Photos are at 20 and 50 seconds.

Your % PPO when Testing New Fragrances in CP Soap

I usually enter 0 into the fragrance field in Soapee's lye calculator because I print out multiple copies of my recipe and use them with different fragrances with different fragrance loads. @DianaMoon The PPO calculation is easier for me to understand... weight of oils (usually use grams since...

    Show off your spatula collection!

Good to know. I've had them in my cart for a while now. Maybe I'll pull the trigger some day soon. I could use a slender plastic spatula for my deodorant. I only make one tube every few months and every time I do I think I need to get one. I waste too much because I'm not scraping the...
