GLDA, a modern alternative to EDTA

Just wanted to chime in—I’ve found that you can purchase small quantities from Essential Wholesale. There isn’t too much information provided on their site and I’ve since reached out to customer care to find what the concentration is just to so I know. Has anyone had success using this? I’m...

I found a new TD no booger technique

I use the water dispensable and a $5 milk frothed from Ikea seems to get all the clumps out of mine. Before I got that I had clumps all the time...

    Making soap is so FUN

Welcome! Soaping can definitely be addictive 😁

What soapy thing have you done today?

Nice! I love CPOPing my soap—it reduced the amount of ash I was dealing with and made my colors really vibrant from the forced gel. I still get ash during the cure but it’s noticeably less. I’m curious about lard but I haven’t experimented with it yet. I don’t have a good supply source and...

Curing soap and sleeping in the same room

I’d imagine opening a window in good weather for short periods of time would make scents a little less overpowering. So long as humidity and extreme temps aren’t a huge problem for you.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Got around to setting up my single wire soap cutter—no more cheese cutter with a mind of its own for this lady. Test drove some kokum butter in the batch I made last night. Its scented with Caribbean Coconut and I’m just honestly not a fan—it sort of reminds me of allspice. Eh...

    Soap for Christmas time.

I’m thinking of doing Eucalyptus Spearmint, Bayberry, Vanilla Birch, and some kind of fun blend for the foodie soap lovers in my fam—holiday cocoa or something...

Soda ash! And a few other things!

You can look into Biolefin. It is marketed as a 90%biodegradable shrink wrap system. I’ve never used it and have only read info on it in passing.

Who is your favourite YT soaper?

I’ve been loving ‘I Dream In Soap’ lately. Lisa is amazing. She explains the things you want to learn but can’t really find easily. She’s also thrifty, incredibly personable and talented. I’m also enjoying ‘The Cheeky Goat‘ because I love her designs and it’s refreshing how real she keeps it...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Had my husband test out a cured bar today and discovered that I’m going to have to figure out a structured simple way to test. I couldn’t really get much helpful feedback. It’s annoying lol.

What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

My name is based on a childhood nickname--one of those stupid ones that sticks in your family and then your friends start using it...its weird and corny when your 35 but I go with it out of habit sometimes. My avatar is my ginormous derpy Maine **** kitty 'Chief Brody'. He's my buddy. I made...

    True mica/soap soap pigment colors?

Good to know—just placed my first order with TKB 2 days ago. They have the elusive periwinkle ultramarine that I’ve been searching high and low for. I also got Ye Old Neon Red, True Coral, WinterRose and Soapberry Purple. I’ll look more at their oxides for the next order. I’ve been using Snow...

    How did you find us?

Literally anytime you Google a question about soap this forum comes up A LOT. I’ve found it super helpful. Still LOL’ing about the MySpace option 😂😂

    True mica/soap soap pigment colors?

Thank you so much! I have actually have Synergy—it’s a great color. I’m definitely going to try blending up some colors. I really love that mid century modern neutral with a pop of unexpected color type of look. I’ve been so inspired by some of the Korean soap studios on Instagram. Aside from...

    Need a bit of feedback?

Thank you, that didn’t even occur to me. I have some Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate that I was working up the nerve to test drive in soap. I’m a little fuzzy on how exactly to incorporate it—I assume it would be the same as EDTA but I haven’t used a chelator before.

    ISO 3x3 loaf molds

I got a Custom Craft Tools 3.5 x 3.5in and I’m a meatball because it’s just not exactly what I’m after. I’m really on the hunt for a 3 x 3in loaf mold. Ideally anything from 2-4lbs. If you know where I can find any I would greatly appreciate it!
