What soapy thing have you done today?

I tried a swirl. The colors didn't get dark enough for me. I also did the CPOP and the batch is still in the oven. I can't see it unless I open the door and I'm not doing that until the 12 hours is complete and the cool to room temperature is done. But I am dying to look at it.

    How Long is Overnight

Thank you. I know in school they say no question is stupid, but people go to bed at different times and some people have to leave the house to work, so I just wondered what the definition was. I plan to try this tonight with a soap I'm making.

    How Long is Overnight

Thank you. Good to know. I read about it and a lot of the reading says to leave it in the oven for 2 hours and then turn the oven off and let it sit overnight. I believe this forum suggests putting it in the oven and immediately turning the oven off.

    How Long is Overnight

That sounds like a stupid question, but I usually soap at night. I have a special needs daughter who takes all my time. If I was making a CPOP, I might be putting it in the oven at 2:00 am. When I get up at 7:00 am or 8:00am (after the schoolbus, if we ever go back to physical schools), is that...

    Book ideas for light reading?

I read a little of everything, except abuse books. I'm reading THE INSTITUTE by Stephen King, which is abuse, but he's one I can forgive. If it gets too gritty, I skip it. The stories are riveting, but not recommended for light reading.

    Book ideas for light reading?

Do you read romance? It's always satisfying and guarantees a happy ending. I write romance. You can find a lot of books on my website shirleyhailstock.net or on any of the book sites.

    You couldn't eat this ....

I did that. I used to make doll cakes all the time. They were a real hit for parents and kids. And they were easy to decorate.

I've been looking at doing this. I've mechanically incline and I own saws (circular saw and jigsaw, plus hand saws). However, the store will cut the wood to your specifications. One thing I thought of while watching the videos and seeing them use hinges to raise and lower the sides, is why not...

    You couldn't eat this ....

I did cake decorating many moons ago. It was fun when my kids were small. Their parties and donations to school functions were always a hit. I still do it occasionally for someone's birthday. I'm involved in youth tennis and when we have parties, my cupcakes are "too pretty to eat" so says the...

    Finally

My first batch was 100% olive oil and I'm using it now in my kitchen. I followed the directions I saw online and through reading exactly and the soap turned out fine. It has a cinnamon scent is very hard, but no issued. My other three batches are the same. They have various oils in them (lard is...

    Coronavirus

Thank you for being on the front lines. I'm not in health care. I used to work for two giant healtcare companies, but we made the drugs and sold them to hospitals, clinics and doctor's offices.

It's been years but making soap for home again.

I think I want to try the 100% lard soap. I love the creaminess of the lard that I've used in the past. The bars look soft. Are they? The ones I've made (not 100%, bu with lard) have been curing for over 6 weeks and they are hard. For some I added the sodium lactate to get a harder bar.

I made more lotion bars. I made six for Valentine's Day from a Soap Queen video. I was down to two because both I and my family love them.
