    No, no, no. Just no.

I saw that online as well and thought it sounded like something to avoid :) It would be interesting to sniff, but I don't have a desire to smell my yarn the whole way through a crochet project.

I am also wowed by the neat feathering in your ITPS. You said that you pour with your mold at an angle. Do you pour back and forth along the wall of your mold, similar to a OPW?

Brambleberry scents that I have are very light in scent. Is that the norm?

I purchase almost all of my FOs from Bramble Berry. I've gotten a few from other sources in the past, but I personally prefer the quality of BB's. Out of the ones you have, I've tried Oatmeal Milk & Honey, Lilac, and Wild Rose. I dislike soap that's heavily fragranced, so I go somewhat light on...

    Slab molds

Thanks for your amazingly comprehensive reply! When you use the 10", do you know how many ounces/grams of batter it takes to fill it?

    Slab molds

I was just about ready to make a new post asking for slab mold advice when I found this thread. @Mobjack Bay, are you still pleased with the last slab mold you mentioned? Where did you purchase it from? I was gifted a 10" silicon slab for Christmas, and I'm considering trading it in for a...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I walked into another department at work and saw a coworker handing out her Christmas gifts to her department....handmade soap! I didn't know she made soap and am excited to talk to her more about it.

New Soaps by The Emerald Chicken

These three batches were made for a friend I first met on an airplane. She wanted some soap to give as Christmas gifts. I've sold soap to family and friends, but this was my first out-of-state order. Cactus Flower This batch was inspired by @Mobjack Bay's entry in the May 2021 challenge, but I...

Energetic Blacksmith I don't usually name my soaps, but that just popped into my head as I began this post :) This batch is made using @earlene's blacksmith soap recipe and is fragranced with Energy from Bramble Berry. I dumped in some charcoal for color and textured the top with a fork. Not...

November 2022 Challenge Entry Thread - Trees

Wow, thanks to everyone for the votes! And congrats to @Mobjack Bay and @AliOop as well! I loved the variety of ideas that came through in this challenge.

November 2022 Challenge Entry Thread - Trees

This year I had almost purposed to not make my annual attempt at a reverse-feather-swirl tree, but I changed my mind when the November soap challenge was announced. This is the first time I've tried adding snowflakes in the air. The batch is fragranced with Birchwood Oud from Bramble Berry.

    SMF November 2022 - Trees

@Primrose I have a question about the challenge rules. The guidelines state "a soap which has one or more trees in the design." One of the inspiration photos is a woodgrain soap. Is a tree part (such a woodgrain or leaves) sufficient, or should the soap include an entire tree in the design?

What soapy thing have you done today?

Wow, that's a really neat look! The thicker trace definitely gave a different result, but I like it.
  15. The_Emerald_Chicken

AM I overthinking this or is there an actual design/pattern for this look?

Yeah, I'm with @Zing. It reminds me of one of my attempts at angled layers (aka alternating wall pour). If the batter isn't thick enough, your layers will slump and give you that look. (These layers aren't as slumpy as the ones on the original post, but it's the same idea).

What soapy thing have you done today?

Hey, I made a one pot wonder yesterday! It'd be fun to see pics of your end result. I'm intrigued by seeing how different traces result in different looks. My trace was fairly fluid, and I definitely got a different look from the other time I tried this design (with a thicker trace, actually the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I made two batches of soap. Backtrack a few years to when I made a friend on a flight and gave her a bar of my soap. We've kept up a little, and a month or so ago, she requested a dozen bars to give as Christmas gifts. Today's batches were for her. I'll try to get pictures...

New Soaps by The Emerald Chicken

Oh joy! I just found that I do have pictures of a few other batches from the summer. Garden Party This is a newer fragrance from Bramble Berry, and I love it! While floral, it's light and sweet and not at all overpowering, IMO. This was made in a soaping session with a visiting out-of-state...

New Soaps by The Emerald Chicken

I meant to make layers that were slightly uneven, but the fragrance didn't quite accelerate like I thought it would, so the layers weren't able to support each other well. Basically I just poured layers, but the batter was thin enough that each layer broke through the previous one pretty...
