    EO blend test results

I hardly use FO's and this is still an amazingly helpful thread. Thanks, @Mobjack Bay

    are fragrances just hideously expensive?

The problem with trying to identify companies which make fragrances that stick is that it seems like *all* of them make a few fragrances that stick really well, but also for all of them the majority of the scents do not. After buying hundreds of FOs, it seems like there is no way to predict it...

Raw or Pasteurized Goat Milk Lotion?

I used to make cheese so this comment is limited to that context, but I believe beneficial bacteria in milk are usually referred to with respect to ingestion. Ie; they provide gut benefits in terms of digestion, nutrition, etc. There is a huge trade-off there, one which most cheese makers...

    Fragrance Oil Testing

I don't know if it's a great idea to test in MP for FOs you'd use in HP but don't really know because I have never made HP. Because MP is already fully saponified, you don't have to worry about lye eating the fragrance. I think saponification mostly takes place during the make in HP (rather...

    Yummy Breakfast

Yay! Finally a break from the worry and a chance to experience the new house.

    Soda ash

It does! Really like the swoopy swirls on the other as well.

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I haven't made the pourable diy b&b one yet, but agree that both the regular one and a humblebee one I made (I think the white chocolate one, adapted for scent and to add rice protein) have plenty of lather. I think @SoapSisters slsa theory is a good one.

    Wound care @ home

@Sudds, just a heads up, since candelilla is harder than beeswax you might have to vary the percentages or otherwise tinker a little bit (eg, more oil or use a softer butter) to get the right texture/slip in your lotion bar. But you can remelt and add until you get something you like. Just...

Salt Bar Recipe - pulse check

The calculator numbers don't really work with these because the they are such outliers. The superfat at 20% basically balances out the stripping effect of all the CO. I don't know if salt bars are great for the skin per se, I think people like them for the lather and maybe the exfoliation...

Trouble shooting and improving goat milk soap recipe

Lanie, not sure if this is what you are asking, but when I use colloidal oats I just mix them into the oils with the SB so that they get well dispersed. I've never used oatmilk, so this thread is really illuminating.

April 2024 SMF Challenge - CAKE!

Everyone's cakes look amazingly real, if I had not known they were soap I would gladly have taken a bite out of each and every one. Great job, you guys. I have to go and eat some real cake now, thanks a lot.

I like the swirl and the colors too.

    Soap cutter reviews?

It would! All I have to do is bring my little dog, those of you with husbands and kids/gkids in the house or nearby are going to have more persuading to do :)

Help my silicone loaf mould shrunk.

You're likely not doing anything wrong, those are probably just not the greatest molds. They look fairly thin, which means that they are likely to be floppy and produce bars that are not straight, like the ones in your photo. The only way I can think of to address this is to buy or make some...

    Hyaluronic Acid

@AliOop, I think most of SCM's posts are behind a paywall now. I have deliberately *not* joined because in some ways the rabbit hole was too distracting, I'd look for an answer to something, not find it, but discover a dozen more interesting questions.

    Soap cutter reviews?

Thanks, @dibbles and @AliOop. I wish we all lived in some fantasy soaping community where I could just pop over with cookies in exchange for borrowing your cutters! Soaping every day! And cookies!

    Soap cutter reviews?

I would kind of like a log splitter, but am happy with my single bar Bud cutter otherwise. For those of you who have both a single bar cutter that you are happy with and a Caterpillar/Hercules, is it worth buying one of the latter if you don't make/split slabs much? Ie; as mentioned above I...

    Facial bar/Hyaluronic Acid

Yes, the ingredients look like MP, plus no surfactants like you’d expect with syndets. It’s kind of crazy what people will do for label appeal with wash off products. Although not so much, I guess, if people will pay for them, that bar costs $10.00. I assume based on the notion that the HLA will...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I love this idea, I didn't think they'd be reusable because I didn't think the scent would come out (even with soap) and might transfer to the next tester/batch.

    Golf ball mold?

I don't think you'd be able to use the second one with soap batter, you wouldn't be able to pour it into the hole on the top as they do with water in that mold. You could probably make your own one piece silicone mold, or buy one, like this...
