Lost my wholesale account, oh well.

Your pricing sounds more than fair. I am surprised they gave away the soap (rather than selling it at their gift shop- perhaps they don’t have one?) With the current economy, I could understand that being up to one individual to shoulder the bill (instead of being added to the entry fee to...

    Cosmetic Formulating Course

I had not heard of this course, but it reminded me of a free course I once signed up for but didn’t complete, and now that I revisited the page, I see their name-Chemist corner- along with Swiftcrafty monkey as being part of it. The free course is hosted in Jane Barber’s Making Skincare website.

    Piping CP

I have done that. Because I use an accelerating fragrance and a recipe for a hard bar, the soap is ready to cut in 18 hours or so, so I do the piping then

    Aztec FO's

The ones I have used have been strong, but I have not tested that many. Are you using citrus types by chance? And what usage rate?

    Cozy mystery

I recently started The Woman in the library. Interesting concept/format, sort of a book within a book, but hard to follow as an audiobook while driving.

Ideas for a FO to use?

@Mobjack Bay I had kind of hoped they would reformulate it! I think that what may have put WW in such low IFRA usage were both the clove and and sweet cotton candy. The sweet cotton candy probably had a high vanillin percentage, and from what I read cinnamon and clove are used to create an...

Ideas for a FO to use?

winter wonderland is what comes to mind, however its new IFRA usage rate (if you follow that) is at about 2%. Perhaps a pine type scent?

    Aztec IFRA rates

Also, if they have marked a fragrance as skin safe, it means it can be used at a 5% at least, per this page.

    Streamlining Logistics on Soaping Day

Coincidentally I masterbatched my oils yesterday and lye solution today. While the oils are still warm I weighed and poured some of it into containers marked as 16 oz or 32 oz. Did the same for the lye because I like the ease of just grabbing what I need when ready to make soap. I use the...

September 2022 SMF Soap Challenge – Hybrid soaps, pouring CP and MP together

@Mobjack Bay I usually leave my hybrid soaps cure in the same space as my other soaps. I live in the gulf coast, have high humidity, but with the AC running most of the time, have not had Mp sweating issues. Except for some brands of MP, and it seems that if I overheat the MP it tends to...

    Long lasting bath bomb

you could change the percentage of citric acid to baking soda. When I followed a recipe from the book Fun in the tub, it lasted beyond my bath time (about 30 minutes)! I didn’t like that, so I changed it to the percentage of Humble bee and me’s recipe like before.

    Ione, requesting feedback

I agree with everyone else, while you have pictures to compare and torture yourself with, I bet your friend mostly remembers the eo blend scent and how the soap felt. Even if they have an old bar, they won’t be looking at them side by side with an evaluating eye.

    Tallow Weirdness - opinions please!

When I have ordered tallow from them, it has come in a bag inside a box, and has a firm texture, but I can scoop it by hand. When I master batch with it though, it takes a while (a couple of weeks at least) for the oils to partially solidify in the containers.

Custom soap stamps vs. silicone molds?

depending on the logo (it a fairly simple shape with no inside negative space), you could also have a extruder disc made, to create embeds with soap dough. Or you could have a silicone liner made with the logo/ name to put at the bottom of individual cavity molds, sort of like an impression...

September 2022 SMF Soap Challenge – Hybrid soaps, pouring CP and MP together

@Mobjack Bay I like WSP's premium extra clear, I live in a humid area, and yet it does not usually sweat (most MP brands I have tried have not), but I prefer it for its clarity

    Ciaglia Method

@melonpan Initially the link seemed to have been blocked so I inserted it in the phrase “here is the link” above, that one seems to work after once logs into a fb account. (Though initially it gives a message saying the link is not found or Broken but above that gave me a login option). But I...

Suggestions for a more realistic/subtle cherry blossom fragrance!

Not having smelled a real cherry blossom, I doubt my input could be helpful. I have only smelled and tried two Cherry blossom fragrances, one from Lone Star candle and the other from Brambleberry. I like this latter one better, but perhaps it smells more like a lotion from BBW than a flower...

    Batter that turn brown

I noticed something similar with a soap, it looked beige instead of light purple (colored with mica though), until saponification was complete. (A couple of days later). It seems the high ph made that mica morph.

Soap bars crumbled at base of cut!?

Lye loses power over time, so the fresh lye will surprise on how hard it can make a bar of soap. Depending on what your superfat is, you may want to increase it, or cut the soap sooner if possible, or adjust the hardness factor of your recipe.
