Questions re Zany's No Slime Castille soap

I agree there is no "perfect" soap. If you recall I hate that Recipe, it was still slimy and went dossy for me before I hit my 1 yr cure time I always used for 100% OO soap. That was using 0 superfat and even added BHT. So nope that recipe was Not for me. I definitely would not go over 1%...

Where do I find these ingredients

I see under the soap the header lists Key Ingredients. That tells me there are missing ingredients.

    Latest Update on Cheryl

I am trying to find out, but I think this is different she had the PRP treatment a couple of times when her platelets crashed. Before all the hospital stays I was going to talk to you about acquiring the machine and seeing if her PA could administer the treatments, who administered the...

    Hard oil help!

I very seldom use soap on my face but when I do I use my 100% Almond Oil Soap of which I only have a few bars left. hint hint someone... :D :D The downside to 100% Almond Oil soap is the long cure time required before it is a decent bar of soap, 6-8 month cure time. You can try it at 4-5 months...

Warning Long Post...   Hopefully, this is going to be my last update!! Of course, I stay guarded when and become afraid to get too hopeful, but my daughter just got home from another 2 or 2.5-week stay in the hospital, sorry I lost track, and the doctors feel she is finally...

I need to vent... disclaimer attached

You deserve to rant Misschief. After so many years co-workers become family with all the hours spent together working and something like that is pure devastation. I cannot fathom what his family is going through and what you are going through. Talking about it certainly can help. Sadly we just...

How to know if you've used too much sugar?

In my opinion and actually not just my opinion, several years there was a test done with different additives to help lather and it was found Sorbitol increased lather the best which is why I changed from using sugar. I find sorbitol so much easier to use and it upped my lather in my low CO bars...

    Temu

Does anyone buy molds at Temu? I just found this one and if I was still making soap I admit I would have to buy it. I will assume that some of their silicone molds are thin but they have quite a few soap molds available. https://tinyurl.com/4uvvrx8u https://tinyurl.com/2s4u3ndn

    Latest Update on Cheryl

Thank you everyone for the prayers. They are doing another procedure to try and clear her lungs. They believe the surgical site is clear of infection, but that has been thought before and the good news is today's x-ray showed her patches are looking fantastic, and her sinus area looks clear, at...

Maybe the 7th batch I've made. newbie

HP still goes through saponification. Save your exotic oils for lotion or lotion bars. Preferably lotion bars unless you want to put in the time learning to make lotion which does have a learning curve.

    Soapee

If anyone here uses Soapee as their calculator or have recipes stored on his site you need to print them off. He is shutting down the site on April 30th. Makes me sad because I love that site and the ability that we were able to store recipes. Frankly I was always surprised he kept it a free...

Why did I get tiny little crystal looking flakes floating at the top of my lye water?

I agree sugar had nothing to do with your immediate issue of lye lint and was not trying to add confusion. I just wanted to remind you to dissolve your sugar before adding your lye. Personally prefer Sorbitol at the rate of 1% batch weight instead of sugar if you are using sugar to help with...

    Latest Update on Cheryl

Why did I get tiny little crystal looking flakes floating at the top of my lye water?

About sugar, do remember to fully dissolve it or use a cold sample syrup before adding your lye. Sugar can crystallize, usually on the bottom of your container, if not completely dissolved before adding your lye. No amount of stirring will dissolve crystallized sugar in my experience. Aside...

What type of a container do you use to mix your water (liquid) and lye?

I have used the same Rubbermaid pitchers over 11 yrs for my lye. I will mention that over time I have had stainless steel pots and bowls pit over time that I have used for shaping. So I prefer to stick with plastic.
