are there any general guidelines about adding glycerin to CP soaps? i'd like to try adding some to my shaving soap recipe to aid in lather production and increase moisturizing. any help would be appreciated! thanks.

hey michael, congratulations, it's all downhill from here! i just made a recipe not all too different from the one you did, all the same oils just slightly different percentages, it came out of the mold soft but it's hardening up nicely over the first week. let us know how it turned out.

is the insulation of the batch what causes the gelling? and seriously about the refrigerator?

i think my red veins are actually gelling, but i just wanted to make sure it was kosher to use this type of palm oil for soap.

if you're interested, i believe you can mix "hard" microcrystalline wax with regular paraffin to create a hurricane-like wax. i can't remember the proportions off hand but if you wish to know, say so and I'll track down the numbers again.

they actually burn really well. haven't had to trim the wick, no soot, no ash. as far as the scent, i haven't paid enough attention. i'll have to check the next time we burn one. i THINK they're made in the USA. may be the use of soy since they're a midwestern thing, dunno about that. i'm sure...

they're pretty popular in the midwest and cost accordingly. mainly, i'm trying to figure out a way to make them myself so my wife won't buy anymore! they do look kinda like the thickness of popsicle sticks... interesting.

well, i did some intensive internet research and found a few wax formulas (not much info available) and the one i tried was 1# of paraffin; 1 tsp. of vybar. next time around i may try a 50/50 blend of paraffin and bees with the vybar added in. i'll let you know how these burn. i'd still like...
