    Walnut Oil

I did the exact same thing last week, was running through the local stores looking for avocado oil and saw walnut oil and wondered the exact same thing. Thanks for the thread!

    Chocolate Mint or Camo Soap?

Seven, not anything difficult, I split my batch into plastic pitchers, add my colors then pour then from height of about 8 -12 inches in zig zag patterns

    Chocolate Mint or Camo Soap?

I was doing a batch of chocolate which I normally do in three colors (tan, brown, and black) when I ended up with a dropper I had used for peppermint oil getting put in the sink while cleaning along with the chocolate. Yep it smelled too good not to just add some peppermint to the chocolate and...

    Problem with Castile

Well I cut this late last night. I really feared I was going to have free oil flowing out of it when I cut it but turns out that didn't happen. Ended up with a partial gel. The below picture was just taken so the soap had been cut for around 18 hours at this point. I can deal with this. My...

    Taking the plunge into selling

I think it looks really great. I have been contemplating setting up a site as well, may I ask what service you used to do the set up? I've been looking at all the different ones out there and if you look hard enough you can find both good and bad reviews for all of them.

    Lardy Boy!

At my house Lard is called Soap! It is the base of nearly every one of my soaps. Your original recipe you questioned is very close to the one I use for my base in 90% of my soaps and it makes a wonderful soap. When it is all said and done the lard is no longer lard just as the lye is no...

    Problem with Castile

Thanks for the input, with this being a first for me I was kind of at a loss and wasn't able to find anything by searching other threads. I figured it by weight not percentage and used grams. I wrapped it as I was hoping to get a full gel on it instead of a partial. The mold is too big for me...

    Problem with Castile

I am a bit perplexed at this one as I have done many things but have yet to have one fail such as I have with my first batch of castile. It has been in the mold for close to 24 hours now. It appears to be in a state of partial gel but it is beyond that because it has cooled off. It is also...

My solution for a curing rack

I really haven't had a problem with wobbles and dominos but I have fairly steady hands too. I have laid the ends flat in the past and butted the next bar up to it, this helps some. As for scent transfer, the room smells great!! Oh sorry, you meant between bars. I have not had a problem yet...

Castile for the New Year anyone?

I had to jump on the wagon also, 100% true castile here, only 3 ingredients, Olive Oil, Distilled Water and Lye.

    Let's talk Coffee!!!

Looks great to me! Maybe a bit darker green and a black to go with the tan may give you a better camo look, just thinking out loud here.

    Tenderflake for laundry soap lard..??

If it is pure lard the brand shouldn't matter. I use 100% lard for my laundry bars and do them with zero percent superfat and they work fabulous. So far my laundry bars are the only soaps that I hot process an they grate and grind into such a fine powder that when I make my laundry powder you...

My solution for a curing rack

This is still a work in progress but I believe you will get the idea. As I continue to expand and have more people wanting my soaps I have to continue to find new ways to make better use of my space. It is a good problem to have but can also be frustrating. I wanted to share my current...

Bees wax! Lots of bees wax!

Lot of good information out there on bees. You may call the closest contact you can find and ask them for future reference. Chances are they won't drive 2 hours for a hive in a tree, at least not for free, but chances also are that they know a beekeeper closer to your area they could refer you...

    Latest soaps

They are all fabulous but that first one is by far my favorite! Does the manuka honey behave any differently than regular honey?

    Let's talk Coffee!!!

I have a bottle of the coffee essential oil from Essential Depot, I will just say it doesn't smell like coffee. Skunk was the first thing that came to mind when I first smelled it and I have made just a test batch with only it, complete fail. I am pondering using it in a bar for my hunter...

    Black Eye Peas & Cornbread!

I've not had black eyed peas that way in years. Sounds fabulous. I did great northerner beans this go around with some fabulous smoked hocks from the meat processor where I buy my lard. They had enough ham on them no added ham was needed.

    American Flag?

cmzaha, I used a red oxide powder from wholesale supplies plus. I added it a little heavy, 1 tsp to 1200 grams of saponified oils, and I am sure it will have some red lather and will turn a washcloth red but that wasn't a huge issue for me on this particular soap...

    American Flag?

This was my first attempt at actually making some type of intended pattern in a bar. While it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, I learned quite a bit from the process and to be honest I kind of like the look of it. I do have some ideas for the next attempt and hope to improve upon it.

    Laundry Bar

I agree and hope nobody uses them on their body as well. That was why I asked the question as it does't make any sense to sell a bar they know is lye heavy if the added lye has no benefit.
