I never want to line a mold again.

I just looked at the Woodfields molds, they look great but WOW are they expensive! Are there any other reputable companies out there that makes molds like these but more reasonably priced? I am also looking for wooden molds with silicone liner. Thanks!

    "Squeaky" Clean Feeling

I know the feeling you're talking about, I get that too with all of the different recipes I've tried. I don't love it, reminds me of fingers on a balloon (which makes my teeth hurt!!), and then after I dry off it takes a few minutes for the tacky/sticky feeling to go away, but once I'm totally...

CHAOKOH COCONUT MILK, AND GV BRAND SHORTENING QUESTIONS!

Yes, I used it in place of palm but I ran my recipe through Soapcalc first. The first ingredient listed is beef tallow, so you wouldn't want to use it if your vegan or making vegan products, but.....I'm a meat eater and I LOVE the way this soap feels!

CHAOKOH COCONUT MILK, AND GV BRAND SHORTENING QUESTIONS!

I've decided I love the GV shortening in soaps also! I need to order bulk palm oil but I really, really hate ordering things online, I don't know why! Not that I can't, and by the time I get around to doing it I could have had what I wanted two weeks earlier anyway if I'd just ordered when I...

Why is my lye solution doing this??

Thanks for all the responses! If that happens again I will use the solution to see what happens. As for the extra water in the soap it didn't cause any problems, it hardened up very nicely and it's only two days old. It may be my new favorite recipe! :D

Why is my lye solution doing this??

Soapbuddy~I was trying to do that, but was having the issue with the lye solution with the smaller amount of water, and I'd already mixed my coconut milk into my oils. I won't do that again! :) So what then causes a soap to be spongy? The lather is instant and fantastic, but the bars just feel...

Why is my lye solution doing this??

Would the lye solution have been alright to use then? I hated having to dump three mixtures but didn't know if that was undissolved lye, or a reaction with the sugar, or something else and didn't want to take a chance to ruin my soap!

Why is my lye solution doing this??

Total liquid according to Soapcalc was 12.16. For the first three batches I used a 6.16 oz of water to 4.3 oz of lye, but had already incorporated the other 6oz of coconut milk into my oils (was reading different methods of how and when to add it and just went with this one) So, bumping my...

Why is my lye solution doing this??

Okay, I mixed it again this time using the 8.6 oz of water and didn't have any problems. I had already mixed my coconut milk in with my oils though, so adding the extra 2 oz of water~will that make my soap too moist? I am HPing this soap, so should I just cook it longer to evaporate some of the...

Why is my lye solution doing this??

After mixing my lye solution it is getting a very thin layer on the top as it cools that then breaks up into little 'floaties' as I stir; I've mixed three batches so far this morning, the first two had sugar in the water, so the third batch I left the sugar out wondering if that was causing this...

CHAOKOH COCONUT MILK, AND GV BRAND SHORTENING QUESTIONS!

Thank you! I can't wait to try soap made with coconut milk, I've read such great things about it!

CHAOKOH COCONUT MILK, AND GV BRAND SHORTENING QUESTIONS!

I bought coconut milk at Walmart and this particular brand didn't have guar gum in it; it does however have citric acid and sodium metabisulfite (as preservative) in it. Will this be alright to use in soap? The GV shortening I bought because it had palm oil listed as the second ingredient...

    Soap making suppliers near Houston?

Does anyone know of any soap making suppliers in or around Houston, TX? I HATE shopping online! I like to see what I'm buying first! I'd like to make a trip into Houston this afternoon if I can find somewhere to go. Thanks!

    Question about using oatmilk?

I've used it twice now; the first time it didn't get so thick and that's what threw me the second time. I ended up not adding any extra liquid (which I'm thankful for!) because once it was mixed into the oils it thinned down to just a normal mixture. It still took a while to get to trace also...

    Question about using oatmilk?

70 views and no responses? Hmmm...has nobody here ever used oatmilk for their liquid before?? Well, I did yesterday and I'm very happy with the results of my soap!

Which molds to buy, and question about drying racks?

The needlecraft plastic is a great idea, I'll grab some of that today. I don't want to use baking silicone molds, I want to buy real soap molds; just didn't know which place had the best molds. What I'm looking for is the slab mold with dividers so after I swirl I can put the dividers in to make...

    Question about using oatmilk?

The second batch of soap I made I used oatmilk in place of the water and love the way the soap turned out. Today I am trying Rosemary Mint (again; was disastrous the first time I tried it  ) and decided to use oatmilk in this batch also. I don't know what the difference is this time but...

Which molds to buy, and question about drying racks?

Thank you. Any other suggestions as to which brand of molds and the best place to buy them?

Which molds to buy, and question about drying racks?

As a VERY new soaper, I have no idea what mold I should first invest in? I've been using bread pans for practice but the soap is hard to get out and I don't like that the sides aren't straight. I think I want to buy a loaf mold and also a slab mold with removable dividers so I can play with...
