    Rebatching questions...

I just rebatched a couple of soaps, this is my first time, but I must tell you that one batch melted well but it was soft and the other batch was a hard soap and did not melt very well at all. I think I should have grated it, but since the softer batch just melted down without grating I didn't...

    Soft soap, how to rebatch.

It should harden some though. It's the consistency of cool (but not completely chilled) butter and when I tried to take it out of the mold large portions stayed on the mold. I guess I'll just try, if it doesn't work then there won't be peppermint for Christmas and I'll have to move on to the...

    Soap Colorants

Is the "non-toxic" embossing powders at the craft store the same as mica?? Is there a way to get them without ordering online?

    Soft soap, how to rebatch.

Will it fix the soft soap? Most of those methods call for liquid to "soften" the soap, so do I leave that out? My problem is that I don't know what additional things need to be done to make a soft soap batch harder. Do I need to take out extra water? Add something? Or will rebatching just...

    Soft soap, how to rebatch.

OK, I searched and couldn't get much help on this, I got tired of reading after several pages of threads. Anyways, 3 weeks ago I made some Peppermint soap. It has 12 oz each of coconut and olive oil and 8 oz each of Wheat Germ and Castor oil and I got the lye and water amount from plugging...

    Problems with my soaps

    soap balls - that easy?

OHHHH, I might want to do this with my munchkins! How much hot water and how much soap to do process #3 there? Or just a link would be helpful.

    Outraged

One of our schools went to uniforms (this is a school issue not a county issue around here) specifically to try to thwart gangs. So they decided on red, white and blue!! Some stupid parent running the PTA didn't know that read and blue are the main gang colors!! So now the ONLY kids in the...

It's just the 10 oz of soap in 40 oz water. Melt and add EO of choice.

    More Laundry soap Qs

OK, so I tried a recipe in a book for laundry soap. I took 10 oz of my Beef Tallow soap and melted in 40 oz of water (I used a crock pot like suggested on here in another thread). The soap is not fully melting so I got frustrated and turned the crock pot off before bed. I woke up to a white...

    Humidity!

It has gotten so humid the last week or so that my bars of soap that have been curing for 3 weeks have gone back to being damp and kind of greasy feeling!

A different salt soap question, yes there are more of us!

I made them 3 weeks ago, so maybe that's my problem. I'm horribly impatient, but once I get a few batches curing I'll probably stop obsessing with how they are curing and obsess with the next batch. The soaps I made are 100% castile and they are definitely not cured yet. I want to do a salt...

100% natural ...is it worth it? Aspen Bark preservative

I would suggest making it a specialty item and seeing how it sold. If you notice everyone flocking to it then drop the other line of lotions. Otherwise, keep both. To be honest, when I buy handmade products I assume most things are all-natural. I was actually surprised to come on here and...

Maybe I'll put some of my Walnut oil in with it and the sugar and see what happens.

Thanks for the info. Why blue colored vinegar?

A different salt soap question, yes there are more of us!

ACKKK! There are so many of us asking salt questions! OK, so I was thinking that my castile soap could certainly use some hardening. Would making it into a salt bar work, or is there some reason I shouldn't do this?
