Very nice! I love your stamp, too!

I DID it! I made soap! (I hope.)

And here are the promised pics! I haven't bothered to clean the soaps up yet. My parents were visiting with my 2 1/2 year old niece this weekend, and I was busy just trying to stop her from force-feeding the poor cat. Don't worry, the lye was put in the cupboard atop the fridge! Some plain...

I DID it! I made soap! (I hope.)

Penelopejane, that's what I hope! Most things I read did say that DOS develops later, but I guess I can't help being paranoid, haha.

I DID it! I made soap! (I hope.)

Thank you all!! I have taken a few pictures with a proper camera, I just have to wait until my partner uploads them as my computer doesn't have a port that fits the memory card. I did do a zap test on a couple of slices from the loaf - blech, salty and soapy. Just as it should be! :) No zap...

My favorite from my Swirls Class - 2017 June

Very pretty! The pattern reminds me of the rock striations you see on river canyon walls.

I DID it! I made soap! (I hope.)

Thanks, Kittish! I guess you must have improved, because I saw your blue mantra soap and it is lovely!

I DID it! I made soap! (I hope.)

Thanks, Obsidian! I definitely did not use a heaping teaspoon... probably like 1/4 of a teaspoon? Maybe that's the problem. Next time I will use more. For now, I'll pretend that I intended to go for a subtle effect.

I DID it! I made soap! (I hope.)

I have to admit, the moment I put the goggles on I began to feel like a bit of a mad scientist. First off, thank you all for your kind advice! It made it possible to do this feeling safe and informed. I found the process interesting - and not nearly so intimidating once I was...

    Browsing soap pics

I love soaps like that, there's something so appealing about that clean simplicity!

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

Looking at my plastic Tupperware tonight, I saw that most of it is marked 5. So, I guess if one were in a pinch... Still feeling under the weather, but I assembled everything I'll be using. This is my first time trying to attach a picture, so I hope it works... Yep, that's Pyrex - for mixing...

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

Thank you all for your advice. After all that, I came down with a horrendous cold, so I have to wait anyway as I don't want to make any mistakes due to the fatigue. Signs point to feeling better tonight, so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post pics of my first batch!

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

Artemis, that's a good idea. I'll see if any of my cheese containers will do. It'll just be a 1 pound batch, so the container probably doesn't need to be very big.

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

BrewerGeorge, thank you for your thorough explanation. In light of that information, I think I will wait and make sure I have safe plastic or steel to mix my lye in. I vividly remember the time I put a hot glass dish into a sink of water and had it shatter violently - I'm lucky it didn't hit my...

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

I admit that I like to buy softer soaps because it means I get to buy more sooner!

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

So far, the consensus seems to be that using the heat-safe plastics are a good alternative, and that for one time I should be okay with the Pyrex. I have some mixing bowls with a rubberized bottom that might be appropriate, in which case I needn't worry about the Pyrex at all. I've seen plastic...

Is Pyrex all right for one use?

Hey all, I thought I was ready to make my first little batch, and my lye is finally arriving this afternoon. I did tons of research - but somehow until now I managed to miss the fact that Pyrex is weakened by lye. I think it was because in all the cp-making videos I watched, the demonstrators...

What Do You Think of This? (No trace, no gel.)

Obsidian: Thanks, that's awesome! I downloaded it right away! And the Dunn book is on my wishlist, waiting for my next paycheque. I need to be careful, or the next thing I know I'll be buying an immersion blender and spending all my money on blocks of butters and my partner will be waking up...

What Do You Think of This? (No trace, no gel.)

wetshavingproducts: I admit that's possible! I think you're right in that what she was trying to say is that she didn't believe there really was any use for gel stage as encouraged by keeping the mold warm etc. Like lenarenee suggested my confusion was probably due to awkward writing, combined...

What Do You Think of This? (No trace, no gel.)

It was highly rated. And it was very readable, and very clear. It might be a matter of different methodology, but I'll stick to the regular way for now. Jaccart789, it's too late! I read it ALL! And most of it was pretty good. :-) Honestly though, if it lead to asking questions and getting...
