    Cocoa Butter vs. Shea Butter?

Good to know, thanks. Unfortunately, shea won't ever make an appearance here, but cocoa and mango have been known to turn up in the past. ;-)

    Vanilla & Coffee?

Is there a reason you used grounds as opposed to fresh?

    Vanilla & Coffee?

Just used regular coffee grounds? Do they need to be instant or does it matter?

    Cocoa Butter vs. Shea Butter?

I've seen some recipes that call for shea butter, but I'm allergic to it (which bites and is why I've begun making my own soap), so shea is out for me. Can cocoa butter easily be substituted for it?

    Vanilla & Coffee?

I'd like to get brave and branch into a vanilla scented soap and maybe coffee for a friend... But what should I use for scenting either? I don't care so much about color. I'm happy with the way the soaps color naturally, but I'm curious what I should use for the smells. Suggestions?

Am I impatient or did I goof?

Thank you! That's a relief to know. It's the one thing that the recipe did NOT mention (for as easy as it was to follow). Now I'll relax a bit more. :D

Am I impatient or did I goof?

I attempted my first cold process batch this afternoon - just a basic olive oil and lye/water mix recipe first time out. I thought everything went pretty well, except it's been in the mold for a couple of hours and there's really been no significant change in it thickening up. It's in a...

    Hello from Maine!

Hi there! I'm Den, new here from Maine. Necessity got me looking for more natural products (allergies galore), but the more I learned, the more I realized that natural is so much better for me, too.
