I tried the ice. I needed 18.2 oz of water so I mixed my lye with 4oz of water and 14.2oz of ice. It was at 80 degrees instintly. That's a LOT cooler that I usually work with! I usually mix my lye with my oils at about 100 degrees! Oh well, we'll see how it turns out!

So I'm being presured to sell my soap. :shock: I need a name. It's betweed "Rumor's" and "Gossip" I won't be selling for a while yet but I need to get my name in order so my site can get set up and all that stuff. What do you guys think???

I just checked this out and it looks REALLY cool. It keeps track of your costs, supplies and everything? Is it really worth it?? Eventully down the road I would like to sell my soaps and I think this progam would be really helpful. Does anyone use it and have anything to say about it?

Is there anyway to make the lye cool down faster?? I'm trying to make soap during nap time :lol: and really need the lye to cool down faster! Can I stick it in the fridge or will this screw everything up??

I would buy that book in a hearbeat! To have a book with tons of inputs rather than one persons would be amazing. It would be like a "blog book" I think it would be great!

Hey, I'm looking for easy plans to make a wood mold. I'd like more of a square or rectangle rather than a log. And if anyone knows how to make the dividers that you put in your mold to get perfect bars that would be great info too! Thanks!

I just got this from the Library today, i was annoyed about shaving a store bought bar too, however the idea of using a Luffa as a mold and leaving the soap in there is interesting. Do you think it would work? I'm afraid two showers and the soap would just fall out? Thoughts???

Well I tried it! I used the Wilton Iceing coloring. I got really brave and tried to swirl but it got really thick really fast so I'm not so sure how good it's going to look! :shock: I'll post picks when it's out of the mold! Cross your fingers for me!!!

Why would food coloring be so bad? Does it leave color on your skin or wash cloth?? I'm really wanting to try this but some people are vary against this. I have wiltion colors and really want to try them! Why would this be so bad?????

LJA---That's so funny! Sounds like you've got yourself a man's man! I do too, Mine's only showing intrest because I"m having trouble and he has to figure it out to show me it's not as hard as I'm making it. He likes to make things look easy so I feel dumber! Whatever, as long as it gets done...

I looked at the MMS one but it doesn't use shortening, and I wanted to use Crisco =( So my annoying husband just sat down and asked me what the problem was and looked at the soap calc and figured it out in about two minutes! I'm ready to kill him and kiss him! I was trying to put the amounts...
