    Is this you?

Then they'd just torment me sitting there at my desk. :)

    Please...tell me it will morph!

I've never tried adding colorants before the lye - maybe that has something to do with it? Anyone with the pretty purples here do it in the same order as nav?

My new 1 pound T&S mold

Based on the cost of my kids' LEGO, this mold only cost about 5x what a professionally made one would cost? :) Fun DIY idea, and I really like how the soap colors turned out!

    Is this you?

It would be me, if I didn't have to work a day job during the time deliveries arrive.

    50/50 split water

I should get some goat's milk, see what all the fuss is about.

    HP soap and EOs

My experience has been that the "half as much" rule mostly applies. I use .5oz PPO in my hot process bath soap, and get about the same final amount of scent as 1oz PPO in cold process. It does seem to matter which oils, though. I think some some oils are more vulnerable to the heat of HP and...

    Recipe Question

I think a smaller number of recipes is probably easier to keep track of for the soap and easier to understand for the consumer. Then again, maybe I'm just not thinking of enough unique "roles" for the soaps to play.

    50/50 split water

Sounds like you keep the lye solution at 50% strength and then make up the difference w/ the milk, rather that cut the liquid straight in half, then?

Best Black Tea and Green Tea FOs?

I have tried several, and have not yet found a black tea FO that really does it for me. Iced Tea Twist from Wholesale Supplies Plus is a fun scent, smells like instant lemon iced tea. But nothing that just smells like a cup of black tea. Bramble Berry's green tea is quite nice, and pretty much...

    50/50 split water

How does splitting your water in half and adding equivalent milk later work? Even at full water, that would be 56% lye solution. Do you have a lot of trouble with getting the lye to dissolve completely?

Testing a few soft oils in 40%

Sounds like an interesting project. I look forward to hearing how it goes.

    Straight line in castile soap

I haven't used one myself, but I have seen plenty of YouTube videos of it. Basically, you pour all your soap into the different "compartments" then take the dividers out smoothly (as close to straight vertical as possible.) I don't think smearing would be a problem because you'd essentially...

SMF Soap Making Challenge October: Hidden Feather Swirl

Sounds like fun. I wanted to learn this technique anyway, so... :) 1. Snappyllama (woohoo I'm first) 2. Saponista (really looking forward to this!) 3. Commoncenz (If at first you don't succeed ... you're probably soaping) 4. TheDragonGirl (Trying should at least be entertaining) 5...

What soapy thing have you done today?

The last major soapy thing I did was to test a new bath bar recipe made with harder oils to see if it unmolded more easily. It worked out pretty well. Before that I was busy getting ready for fall with shaving soap, bath soap and aftershaves. Autumn Morning (coffee, dry leaves, lilies...

What's your favorite soapmaking video on Youtube?

All my regular channels have been mentioned, so consider this a "second" for Soap101, SoapQueenTV, Vibrant and Ariane. Other than that I haven't found anyone whose channel I wanted to add specifically, just individual videos that I've found here and there when looking at specific things.

Finally did Lye Concentration rather then % of oils

*nod* Unmolding is definitely the larger issue for me, and I have a new formula to try later this week. Maybe tonight!

Finally did Lye Concentration rather then % of oils

So what's a soaper to do if they want gel, but also want their soap to unmold easily after a day or two? Or is that pipe dream?

    Why do you make soap?

My motivation seems to be similar to a lot of the answers here. I like hobbies and making things. My whole family is pretty crafty, actually. I never thought much about making soap (though I knew it could be done). I had bought in a bit too readily to the whole "soap dries your skin, use...

    Omar stamps in the house!

This is what I used to think about traditional shaving. :) I got a very nice acrylic one from an Etsy vendor. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

Dremel stir attachment - anyone have one for mixing?

There's nothing about stirring on the Dremel web page, so my guess is it's probably not a suggested use. Has anyone ever used a hand mixer w/ a "blending rod," (basically a disk style immersion blender w/out a cowl) for making soap? Example
