    Linen or fabric spray?

We have a cabin in the mountains just over an hour north of our primary residence. We love to host friends for weekends up there when we have the chance. Usually about once a month. Anyway I generally wash and dry the linens and make all the beds when I leave. Then when we come back, even though...

How to add honey to a lotion bar?

I've been experimenting with lotion bars for a friend. I'd like to add manuka honey for it's healing properties but the honey seems to congeal in the bottom of the bar. Is there a way to get honey to incorporate into the mix better?

    Questions regarding a lotion bar.

From what I gather, they use this after climbing and between climbs to heal and soothe. Thanks for the help, oddly enough I saw a similar product with rice bran oil and was curious about the difference. I will try a batch like you suggested. Hardened Salve is a perfect description.

    Wine fragrance?

I wonder if I could cook down the wine first before adding it in. Basically wine becomes vinegar which is shelf stable for a very long time. I found a fragrance oil to try so may do a batch for fun.

    Wine fragrance?

So my whole endeavor started with our new mountain cabin and my hope to offer it as an Airbnb rental. My plan was to make my own soap and include that in a welcome basket for renters. As I got into research I realized that I need to start with something less involved to get my feet wet. So to...

    Questions regarding a lotion bar.

LOL, he's a cutie for sure. I've known him since he was in first grade, his older brother and my son were best friends. I fell in love with both boys and as their mother was out of the picture and just took to treating them as mine. He just broke up with his girlfriend so is really getting into...

    Questions regarding a lotion bar.

Thanks so, so much. I will have to look into the essential oils book, it sounds very useful! So do y'all see anything in those ingredients that is particularly healing? I'm thinking the beeswax is the most healing and the rest is just there? A placebo effect maybe? I'm still such a newb that I'm...

    Questions regarding a lotion bar.

So we've made about 8 batches of lotion bars and in shower lotion bars. With help from folks here, we have learned much and had a lot of fun. I will post some pics tomorrow of our latest attempts. So, like I'm guessing many of you did, I gave away a bunch of our bars for fun and to get...

    My first lotion bars!

I'm in Georgia. Already running ac here for a few weeks. You touch these and they start to dissolve. I just put them in the fridge for storage.

    My first lotion bars!

Irish Lass, thanks so much for the input! So it is the butter that makes it harden up? Gotcha. I don't know what Polawax or candelilla wax is so will look into those. Oh, and the brown you see in the green bars is ground up adzuki beans. We tried three different grinds to see which works...

    My first lotion bars!

So much fun. My girlfriend and I are learning this together for fun. We made a couple of batches for experience mostly. Basically equal parts beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter with a bit of fragrance oil. Overall pretty pleased but have a few questions. The bars are fine for moisturizing...

    First shipment of goodies arrived!

Thanks all for the enablement, I mean encouragement! I was just reading the thread with advice to new soapers and one of the main things was to start small until you get the hang of it. I totally blew that part lol.

    First shipment of goodies arrived!

I placed an order on Amazon to get some supplies to make my first batch of lotion bars. Most of it got here this morning. Of course I have to leave to go out of town tomorrow morning so will have to wait until I get back. Anyway, no replies needed I just wanted someone to see my haul! Some of...

What is considered a "good" stick blender?

The one I have in my amazon cart is a cuisinart. I have a plastic Braun that I've used for years so will keep that as my cooking one and the new one for soap. I think buying an extra shaft or two is a great idea.

What is considered a "good" stick blender?

I keep reading where experienced soap makers recommend that you need a good stick blender. Are there features or brands that I should look for? I'm not rushing out to buy one now, but if I run across a good deal I'd like to know some options. My other thought is that my husband will be asking...

    We have Humming birds again!!!

I've been so busy I got behind on getting my feeders out. On Sunday I went out in the front yard to start a sprinkler and got buzzed by a hummer. I was being disciplined for my slack behavior. I went right in and mixed up an 8 cup batch. Got it cooled and had 6 feeders up and full in no time. I...

    In Shower Lotion Bar

Soaring1, no worries, everyone is being very helpful. Thanks so much for your recipe I am saving it in my bookmarks for reference. I am still awaiting my supplies and am getting very antsy! So you used all ewax for the wax portion. I was going to use beeswax, or a combo of beeswax and ewax. I...
