    Lumpy Lotion

They are more or less rice size, maybe lentil size? haha. It did turn out a little thicker than I wanted (more like a cream) but other than the weird lumps, i like the feel of it. Creamy but not greasy and easily absorbed. If I had to guess, it does feel as though the lumps are resolidified...

    Lumpy Lotion

I mixed up a batch of lotion yesterday and as it cooled I noticed it was getting kinda lumpy. Not totally lumpy but it has quite a few various size lumps throughout. Any ideas why this happened and is there anything I can do to fix it? It was a rather large batch (about 2lbs). I can use it as...

Need basic lotion recipe. Here are my ingredients

I would like a basic recipe for a lotion base. I want to make about 32 ounces of an UNSCENTED lotion so I can add scent or whatever when I want something specific. I would like to keep it in a container for long term and use it as I am so inspired. Is that possible? I have only made a body...

How much (many?) poppy seeds in soap?

Thanks everyone. Carebear, I used your 2 teaspoon suggestion (because I made the soap right after I read your post) and it does look pretty. I have to say it is the best looking (and smelling) soap I have made so far :) Ok, so I've only made 4 batches but now I'm feeling pretty good about...

How much (many?) poppy seeds in soap?

I am making Lemon Verbena Poppy Seed soap today but I'm not sure how much poppy I should add. I am making one pound of soap. I would like it to be a little bit scrubby, but not overly so. Any suggestions?

    Meadowfoam oil

Thanks for the responses. Like I said, I was actually thinking about substituting it for jojoba but I think at the moment it is not much cheaper if at all anyway :/ I also understand it's very easily renewable which also appeals to me. I wonder why it's so hard to find good info....hhmmm.

swiss cheese holes in my soap :(

That's what I will do then...I shall REBATCH. I will not accept defeat! I guess there is no better time to learn how to salvage mistakes, eh? Is there a window of time that I need to do this? I mean, does the soap have to be freshly screwed up? I made it a few days ago (like Sunday, I...

swiss cheese holes in my soap :(

Ok so maybe it isn't quite as bad as swiss cheese but that's what the holes remind me of. They are slightly brownish but I don't think they are lye pockets. My batch had no color added just lavender eo and vanilla select. Any ideas what these little brownish holes throughout my soap could be...

SAVED extra lip balm stuff...Need HELP with recipe :(

That's the lip balm I WANT! The slickery, glisteny stuff! I guess it's the beeswax that is too "waxy". Booo. Next time I will leave that out entirely and try using just the candelilla and perhaps some lanolin. Looks like I will have to find a better use for my beeswax (I'm very new at all of...

    Meadowfoam oil

Can anyone tell me if meadowfoam oil is comedogenic? I have found lists of ingredients and their comedogenic ratings but many oils aren't included. I have heard that it is similar to jojoba but I'm not sure if it shares this property.

My teenage niece is using a scotchpad on her face

Holy cow. What she is actually doing is pissing her zits off and they are rebelling by multiplying! Irritating and drying out her skin will only encourage sebum production. I used a buff puff as a teenager and it never helped. Unfortunately all the creams and soaps and scrubs most likely...

    A Sad Story of Soap

Thank you so much. I did indeed use wax paper (read somewhere that it was OK. Pooey) for the width but also used freezer paper (for the length). I did this because the width of the wax paper happen to be the same length as my mold. Anyhow, yeah, I used both but next time I will use just the...
