'Old Reliable' or 'Core' Cold Process Recipes

Ok, I need help understanding the castor oil/clay/eo slurry concept. If anyone wants to point me in the direction of a thread, video, article - I would be super grateful.❤️ Day 2 of soaping with my huge FO from nurture. Good labels, good fragrances... Second day of headaches though 😪 My...

Spectrum shortening (100% hydrogenated palm oil) - experiences?

That seems really pricy to me! But if you're just gathering materials to try out soaping and are doing a few oils in small batches...It might not be as expensive as ordering a whole bunch of an oil you're not crazy about. As an aside, I got a really good bulk deal on palm oil from essential...

How do we feel about canola (rapeseed) oil?

I bought organic, non GMO canola for about the same price as sweet almond oil in bulk from Shay and company. I think sweet almond looks better label wise, but I really love canola at about 15-20 percent.

    Lye water process

I started out soaping pretty hot (10 degrees of each other etc etc) And have tried a couple different ways to make an efficient process... But now for my base recipes I've switched to this process: Making my lye water for my 3 lb soap recipe, pouring it cool into plastic lye bottles..and later -...

'Old Reliable' or 'Core' Cold Process Recipes

I love your soap you've been sharing too, Jorah. I think I too have the hardest time doing small batches 😆 I did 1 lb, 3 lb, 4 lb, and quickly moved on to 10 lbs After I had to throw away 10 lbs of soap (I had switched to trying out putting lye water on hard oils to melt... But as I learned...

    Honey disaster in CP

I had that happen in my honey powder soaps. I chalked it up to being sugars that didn't dissolve, but I definitely could be wrong. Makes me think that must be what it is if liquid honey did the same thing. I stay humble!

    Mango Soap

Brazilian mango soap. Added frag oil to cooled oils, blended to emulsion, separated, colored, no acceleration or discoloration. Still needs curing time, but smells beautiful and soaped great.

So much interesting info - love it all. I am pup sitting away from home, so no pics of my soap yet. I love the stamp, Jorah. I don't know anything about Marseille soap, but your soap looks good! Fragrance has definitely been it's own trial! I've had friends say "too overpowering!" But the vast majority say "add more!" It's so personal!

Brambleberry favorite fragrance oils for CP soap

I love Energy - it sold really well in lotion bars. I did not CP that one, and I would love to order more from BB- but, I too noticed a chemical smell in a couple of the fragrances I ordered from them. Energy was one that had a strange first whiff of *something unpleasant* until it faded...
