I do about the same thing. Dissolve the lye in half of the water, and add the GM at trace. I put honey and oatmeal in at trace also. I have wooden molds with lids so i just put the lids on and watch them for a couple of hours, until they fully gel. When they are done, they are kind of carmel...

have you run this thru a soap calc? I ran your second recipe thru and it shows the water being off. Also, I know some people need to use distilled water. We are lucky, as we have spring water here, so nothing is interfering with my soap. Hope you get it figured out! Also, it shows the values...

How cold is it safe to store soaps? I have an uninsulated closet that bumps out into the cold storage in this 100 yr old house. Can cold temps damage the soap, or do I need to find some shelves?

After I dissolve my lye I am cooling it , and it starts to get little 'floaties". It was clear before...is this going to cause lye pockets? or is it normal? Its just little specks you can see, but its different than before I dissolved it. It doesnt go all away with more stirring.

I haven't made a ton of GM soap, but I have learned it works better to either freeze the milk til its slushy and add the lye REALLY slow...or to go 50/50 with water and put the GM in at trace. It overheats and burns really easy. I also learned, it works better not to insulate mine. Next time I...
