Shopping Day! What Should I Buy?

Thanks! What a cool thread! I do like the idea of a chocolate brown soap. Would it be 1 tsp PPO to get that with the cocoa powder?

Shopping Day! What Should I Buy?

Just wanted to add that if you could think of anything that would be good for natural coloring/natural scent that I could find at the grocery store, that would be sweet. Would cocoa powder work as a scenting agent?

Shopping Day! What Should I Buy?

We're going grocery shopping once the boyfriend gets off work. My plan is to buy some soap making ingredients :) Here's what I have on the list so far: Lard Olive Oil Honey Oatmeal Castor Oil Sunflower Oil Now I'm not sure if I'm going to find all of those things at Superstore, but...

    My Scale!! It Came!!!

I got it from New Directions Aromatics. Here's the link to the actual product: http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.ca/so ... -1647.html It doesn't say anything about it being shortening or anything like that. So weird.

    How does your skin FEEL?

Hang in there! LOL I was tempted to shave my head too. I was also starting to seriously crave shampoo.

    My Scale!! It Came!!!

Nobody seems to know what it is! lol. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. I can't even find it in any of the lye calculators

How do you make even swirls?

Would it work if you used a turkey baster? Just kind of put it deeper into the soap and squirt some of the colorant around?

    How does your skin FEEL?

It did go through an icky phase where my hair was all greasy and nasty. That lasted about 3 weeks (3 weeks of hat wearing for me!) and then my hair adjusted and it's been awesome ever since. I've never seen my hair so shiny and light and healthy looking. It's been growing faster too, which is a...

    Gelling?

Thanks for the information! Good idea! I think I may try some batches gelled and some ungelled to see which I prefer. I think I do prefer a more opaque soap but it sounds like gelling has its benefits too. When my wooden mold with lid gets here, it'll probably be easier for it to gel don't you...

    Gelling?

Oooh can I pick your brain some more? How does it look different when you gel or not gel? Does it cure faster if you gel? Or faster if you don't? Thanks! Know what I love most about this forum? I always get an answer to my questions super fast!!!

    How does your skin FEEL?

I haven't used my own soap yet (my first batch is in the molds now!) but I have been using CP soap that i purchase online for the last 6 years. my skin used to get really itchy after a shower with commercial "body wash" or bars of soap and I would often break out in hives from it. As soon as...

    Gelling?

Okay so I made my first batch of soap today (FUN!) and it's in the molds and everything. I didn't insulate it because I didn't want to make a mess of my towels... the molds I used are all for individual bars. So my question is: What is gelling, and what exactly does it do to the soap? Why do...

    Making soap around little people

No little people here, but I have a dog that I worry about. She likes to get into EVERYTHING! When I mixed up my lye today for the first time I was very cautious and put the container in the sink to mix and to cool. It definitely took away my worry, and if anything spilled it would at least be...

    1st batch! Tracing time...

I just did my first batch today too! Unfortunately I didn't do a large enough batch to be able to use my hand blender, and it took over an hour for mine to trace. I didn't even use OO either. It was 25% coconut oil, 65% palm oil, and 10% shea butter.

    My Scale!! It Came!!!

Hahaha! You could totally be here in 3 hours. I don't think the soap would be ready by then though lol. I used up all the essential oils that I had but I'm ordering more. If the smelly quality lasts after it's done curing, and I can replicate it, maybe I'll mail you a bar of it :D

    My Scale!! It Came!!!

Thanks for the tip! I don't really have anything to insulate it with. Wouldn't it touch the soap and make a mess? It's probably too late anyways, but I do have a three pound wooden mold on its way to me, and it has a lid! Eventually I'll probably want to get a bigger one. As soon as Paypal...

    My Scale!! It Came!!!

Re: x It's a plastic mold. Some of them have 3 cavities and others have 4. I got them from Michaels.
