    Car Recommendations

I love my Ford Escape! I've had it for a year now. It's the perfect size for me - enough room for hauling my farmers market & craft show supplies, room for the dog and kids, etc. but doesn't seem huge. It handles well in snow and ice. You will love having a car with backup cameras to get out of...

    Texture Rollers & Mats

Tagging along on this post. Has anyone tried using a 3D printer to make a roller, or make a casting that could be used to make a silicone mat? The Maker Lab at my local library has one, and when I get the time this summer want to give it a try.

Shower steamers: the chemistry behind ?

Monaco Bay thank you for your kind words! You are so right there are a bunch of ways they can go off track. I had a HUGE problem with the wet mixture swelling in the molds starting in September 2022 just as I’m making tons for my Christmas markets. I tried everything- new lots of baking soda and...

Shower steamers: the chemistry behind ?

I've found that too. I cannot make steamers when it's raining outside, even if the AC or furnace is on and the humidity is controlled in my house.

Shower steamers: the chemistry behind ?

Hope I can explain it clearly! It's pretty interesting to me because I'm a chemist. When you are mixing the ingredients to make steamers, citric acid and baking soda will start react together with the water in your liquid. Rubbing alcohol for example is 70% alcohol + 30% water. Witch hazel...

    Essential oil bottle shattering

Did the bottle fall sometime before this happened? Happened to me once with a 2 oz bottle of frankincense EO. It dropped on the tile floor a few weeks before and looked ok but must have had a hairline crack. The bottom shattered when the bottle was sitting in the cupboard.

Essential Oils that don't solidify soaps

Spicy essential oils like clove and some florals like geranium will accentuate trace. Otherwise any good quality brand of essential oils will behave well. What oils have you been buying and from where?

    Moisturiser for Eczema

I have had bad patches of eczema on my calves for the past 4-5 years and nothing the dermatologist prescribed would cure it. This winter I’ve been experimenting with natural remedies. Itchiness greatly improved when using what I call my “everything but the kitchen sink” formula of tallow, mango...

Making your own laundry detergent/stain remover, what would you use?

Where did you purchase the enzyme powders? I’ve been looking for some without success.

Thought I had conquered DOS... it's back! At a loss :(

What distiller did you buy? I’m kind of thinking about buying one.

Using a coffee urn for masterbatching oils?

I melted some lard once in my instapot on the “keep warm” setting. It worked but was a weird experience because the lard kept popping as it melted. I think it is because the heating element is on the bottom and the localized heat is too high. Not doing it again! A crockpot works much better.

    Soap wire cutter

I bought Bud’s multibar cutter about 4 years ago. It is very well made, worth the money!

New to coloring bar soap, looking for help

This is my first attempt using Himalayan Rhubarb Root from Anne George's. The color in person is more cherry red than in the picture. I measured 2.5 teaspoons of rhubarb into 250 g olive oil in a mason jar. Put the mason jar in a crockpot on high for several hours. Then let it sit at room...
