I don't add glycerin to cp soap but I do to cphp. At the end of the cook I add 1 tsp. per pound. It's all part of a key process to make the cphp soap look smooth like cp. Then I insulate the soap and let it cool very slowly on its own.
Just a trick, but in actuality it does not NEED glycerin.

Your welcome. I made another batch yesterday and i was just a smooth. I don't like it though. I forgot to add the scent and I put paprika in for color. SO it has this soap-paprika smell to it. It's ok, but it would not be a pic over anything else. And now that I know paprika has a smell I won't be using it again, even if the FO does over ride it.

I used 25% glycerin in all my 4 batches of soap so far. However, it's not the kind of glycerin you probably know. This is biodiesel byproduct, which is mostly glycerin, with free fatty acids and some lye.

No glycerin here either. Glycerin is already present in finished CP as a natural byproduct of mixing lye & oils, so no extra is needed at all.

No extra is needed, but have you ever tried adding it?

The addition of extra cleansing ability and moisturizing is nice..

I haven't added it to my CP soaps yet. I have thought about it, but instead so far just up my superfat % to get a lovely moist & gentle soap. I started in MP soap crafting and have wondered if adding more glycerine to my CP will give a more MP-like feel to the soap....does adding extra glycerine attract moisture to the finished CP bar like MP? That wouldn't be an effect I would want

Tanya :)

It will attract moisture if you use too much, yes. Otherwise no, it doesn't cause any problem. Try adding just a little bit though, anywhere from a quarter teaspoon to a tablespoon per bar. The more people experimenting to find out the proper oz to oz ratio of glycerine to soap the better.
