Hi all,

Thinking up some floral / fresh blends (I'm super stoked for spring to come rolling round, feels like it's been winter forever, amirite?) and thought this sounds like a nice blend - anyone got any ideas on the ratios?

I know you're gonna say "just try it out and see" but unfortunately I had sinus surgery a few months ago and lost 90% of my sense of smell in the process :( not great when you're trying to do scent blends!

My housemates are only so acommodating when I'm chasing them around the flat all hours of the day asking them to smell things :D

Thanks in advance! x

I experimented a bit with ylang blends in September. One that I really liked is:

32% Ylang Ylang
13.5% Cinnamon leaf
11% Litsea (May Chang)
11% Blood Orange
9% Sweet Orange 5fold
9% Patchouli
4.5% Clove Bud

Another one without May Chang:
35% Ylang Ylang
25% Blood Orange
15% Cinnamon leaf
10% Patchouli
10% Ginger
5% Clove Bud

(If you don't have blood orange, regular sweet orange will do just fine)

Hope this helps!

If not, check out eocalc.com and search for blends to get some inspiration

Watch out for acceleration. Clove Bud will sieze fast for me.

Ah yes, forgot about that.. these were HP soaps;)
Cinnamon and patchouli also accelerate for me, so I think this is not a blend for intricate swirls that require a very light trace..

Aargh I wrote down the the fist blend somewhere else and realized it only totals up to 90%, so I went back to my original notes and redid the calculations. Now it totals 100%;)

35% Ylang Ylang
15% Cinnamon leaf
12.5% Litsea
12.5% Blood Orange
10% Sweet Orange 7fold
10% Patchouli
5% Clove

May Chang is my new favorite scent. I like it alone in soap. Not sure how long it will stick around on it's own, but I love the smell so hoping it hangs on for a while.
