I took advantage of Essential Depot's free shipping on a small order of lye (25 oz) on Friday, and it got here today. Well hello fast shipping from Florida to Nevada! I have olive oil, and some Crisco, and even some canola in there, and I could technically go make some soap today. But since I have the flu *cries* I won't. Besides, my order from WSP comes on Wednesday, so I have more to look forward too.

Anyway, got the lye, had to pry apart the mail order box to get to it, and then struggle with the packing bag to get the bottles out. Now, I encourage other newbies like myself to not be afraid of lye. It is essential to soapmaking, so if you're going to do it, you have to conquer it because fear is what makes accidents happen. However, holding it in my hand made me cringe just a little bit. Especially because it has a big label marked poison right on the label! It's a bit scary so I put it all back in the box and put it in the garage where it's nice and cold and won't cause any problems for lye activation until I'm ready to use it...

Hope you feel better soon! What are you getting from WSP? My order from BB should be here soon so I can try my hand at the soap n tell. Are you participating in it too? Have fun Wednesday!

I bought two scents, two m&p bases, and two pounds of coconut oil :). I'm also trying my hand at soap & tell. What did you get from BB? And thank you Liz for your support lol.

I picked up some colorants and an FO to match my song theme. I also couldn't resist the 5 lb mold and liner...they were screaming my name, really!

I know, I think I've dreamed and thought of soap seems like all night for the past couple of weeks.

I agree when i first started using lye I thought it would blow up the house:lolno: Take the precautions seriously, make sure you are properly geared and have all pets and kids out of room. I actually like to do it late at night when everyone is sleeping, my alone time. Get better and get into the soap kitchen!;)
